Biomimetic dentistry is a new way of dentistry! We as a profession have to learn new ways of doing things to be better. We learned in school how to be a restorative dentist when we receive our DMD/DDS. Operative was taught by GV black, a book published in 1924
We didn’t learn the correct bonding techniques to Dentin. They didn’t have that knowledge.
What history teaches us is that we, as dentists, are only as good as our materials. Our work fails when bonding fails, our work fails when composite is not sealed, our work fails when our build up wasn’t done correctly, our work fails when our cement wasn’t used correctly.
There is hybrid layer to be understood. Before my generation there was gold foil, and in my generation was carving amalgam and making it shine. Now composite has transformed how we practice and it has transformed into an amazing material.
But how can be better with our bonding techniques to Dentin?!?
The only way how is to learn from the literatures! I want to learn from the masters who were trained by the father of Biomimetic. Understanding the mPA of our tooth structure and the materials we are using so we can have better compatibility for stronger bonding strength. Thank you .alleman.dds for showing me your ways and inspiring me to do my best!! I love listening to you speak about biomimetic and I am beyond excited to be part of this revolution

Being a business owner always has its challenges but throw in dealing with young kids and Covid, it has been a bit of whirlwind. Through this process, I have learned to trust myself more and take it all in as lessons to learn and grow. To make little strides and have patience. I learned to take one step at a time and even a step back doesn’t mean I’m failing. I remind myself not to worry too much if things may not go as planned, and not to compare my journey to any other moms or colleagues. I learned to give myself grace and not let Mom’s guilt be too overwhelming. I learned that my children will learn from my struggles and will have more confidence in themselves. Being a solo practice owner, I have so many hats to wear. But I’ve learned to let go and implement more tasks and delegate. The past 3 years of ownership, I learned that I will attract what I put out. So I had to go back and look within. I have learned from my many mistakes and failures. I learned to be transparent, vulnerable, to ask questions from my colleagues from study clubs or seminars and to build relationships and trust with my patients so they know they are in good hands. My struggles of the balancing act is to know how much to take on and when is my plate too full? For me, my happiness lies in making sure I make a difference or a small impact in the lives I touch. My question for myself is what do I value and does that choice reflect that?
This past week has been a juggling act of many things and I hope to come out stronger knowing that reliance on self is key. Learning to trust myself and have trust in the work. I love that this IG community lifts each other up and help each other grow. It’s my source of comfort to know my colleagues care so much and I hope to learn more from all of you. Keep on going and remember to breathe.

Happy Mother’s Day!
A red rose for my Me (Mom in Vietnamese) a white rose for those who lost their mom. Mother’s day is a day of reflection. My mother is my inspiration to be strong- minded, strong willed and determined to lead on without getting defeated by failures and resistance.
I am truly grateful for all the teachers, mentors and colleagues who I got to know over the years who have shaped my outlook, my perspective and my heart.

My mother was a biology teacher in Vietnam. She inspired love in science in me at a very young age. I remember writing my autobiography as an assignment in 5th grade. I wrote I wanted to be a world class dentist. I didn’t at that time know what it would take to be a dentist let alone dream to strive to be one of the best.

My mother’s parents who were part of the royal family in Hue ( where I am from) taught me humility and kindness. I think back and they are the reason for me to always strive and to be a better version of myself every day. Rewriting the narrative to keep challenging us to be better every day. So on mother’s day, I am thankful for all the wonderful human beings who have made big or small impacts for the younger generations and know you as a teacher, mentor have made such an impact in this little girl’s dream!

Happy World Smile Day! It has been awhile since the last post but I wanted to wish everyone a happy Friday. I hope we find some joy and spark some on World Smile Day. The old saying ‘use your smile to change the world and don’t let the world change your smile is so fitting.’
In hopes of doing good and feeling good, I challenge you to do an act of kindness small scale or large to help another smile 😊 Smiling and laughing is contagious and have such great health benefits ( immune boosting, helps the mind, hides your age, good for the ❤️ and is an antidepressant) So go out there and share your smile and be proud!

Many people value excitement, passion, and exultation more than they value peace. However, without peace, both internal and external, nothing else is possible in love, life and family.

Finding peace does not come from following the recipes of success that society forces on us. It is a solitary battle which requires a commitment to our own personal values, goals, and passions. Peace is the result of walking the path of our heart. ❤️❤️

Hope everyone will have a peaceful Wednesday. Happy Hump day

Dr King was a mobilizer of voters. He put voting rights as a forefront of country’s consciousness. John Lewis, one of the ‘big six’ leaders in the civil right movements, dedicated his life to protecting and advancing the rights of black people in the United States.
On Martin Luther king weekend, we serendipitously came across this mural while visiting a quaint restaurant for take out.
The mural quoted Dr Martin Luther King Jr from John Lewis-
“Each of us have a moral obligation to stand up, speak up, and speak out. When you see something that is not right, you must say something. You must do something.
Democracy is not a state. It is an act, and each generation must do its part to help build what we called the Beloved Community. A nation and world society at peace with itself.”
Today when we remember , I can only hope we be the change we wish to see. Let us look within ourselves to help shape our children, our futures, and to bring unity in our divided country.

First day back at work. Feeling more inspired but walking into 2021 is like the Frozen 2 song—- into the unknown. May we stay strong and healthy to keep the hope alive. To creating more happy smiles, to preserving more healthy tooth structure and to discovering more happy moments in 2021. Happy first day back everyone! What’s your new year resolution?
