AbleBodied.org

AbleBodied.org Able Bodied is a California non-profit organization located in San Jose CA. We offer three services at www.ablebodied.org/

1. Our Get1Help2 program.

Our mission: Help people with disabilities around the world connect and experience (we offer FREE electric assist handcycling lessons and resources) Our mission is to help people with disabilities around the world connect and experience . As a first step we want to evangelize the joy of electric assist handcycling, which can take a disabled rider and transform them into an "Able Bodied" athlete. As electric assist handcycles are very expensive ($9K-$18K), we want to lower the barrier to experiencing an "able bodied" ride as much as possible. Free 1:1 e-assist handcycle lessons in two locations, San Jose CA and Sonoma CA
2. Free 30 minute online consultations
3. We will help you find, fund, and purchase a handcycle if you in turn become an "Able Bodied Ambassador" and help two others get into handcycling

Our goal is to make “able bodied” experiences accessible and affordable through education and sharing of resources. Able Bodied Inc. will aim to provide information to an international online community of do-it-yourself (DIY) tinkerers, world travelers, and adventurers that will not let their disability stop them from exploring the world without limits. The High Fives Foundation adaptive sports grant is one of the best sources of funding available for adaptive sports equipment such as electric assist handcycles. They are accepting applications now, but will close the current window on Jan 31st, so I highly recommend you apply today. The application is a two step process. The first part of your application will need to be reviewed before they ask you to fill out the second part, which includes a detailed budget as well as a letter of recommendation (which we can help with if you had a ride with Able Bodied). Apply today,

November 1st is the last day to apply for the Gohawkeye sports grant, which can be up to $5,000. Their application seems shorter than KBF or CAF, so I recommend you check it out.

Had our first official looking booth at the fourth annual Kelly Brush Foundation fundraiser in Mill Valley with our new t-shirts and posters. Despite the rain, plenty of riders and handcyclists came out in supports. A really cool event with a bunch of cool people.. Let us know if you think we had too many QR codes :-)
