Research tells us that early experiences during the first five years of life shape the developing brain and are critical to the healthy development of young children. Alum Rock Counseling Center (ARCC)’s Early Childhood Mental Health (ECMH) services form the foundation for lifelong well-being. Our team uses evidence-based approaches to provide early interventions that support a child's social-emotional skills, cognitive development, and ability to form healthy relationships and ultimately can help prevent future mental health issues, promote success in school, and improve overall quality of life for the child and family. We thank our clinicians for the caring support that they provide to many families who would otherwise not be able to access these services.

ARCC's Downtown Youth Wellness Center (DYWC) serves some of our community's most vulnerable youth ages 12-25. Many of them will not receive gifts during the holidays because their families cannot afford them…or sometimes, because they have no family. If you would like to consider helping a teen in need, you can view the DYWC Amazon Wishlist at: https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/2DMH2OKWVMWFF/ref=nav_wishlist_lists_2

November is Native American Heritage Month, also known as American Indian and Alaska Native Heritage Month—a special month dedicated to the contributions of Native people and raising awareness about the challenges and and achievements this community has faced historically and in present times. ARCC sits on the ancestral land of the Muwekma Ohlone Tribe, land which was and continues to be of great importance to the Ohlone people. Consistent with our values of respect and diversity, we have a responsibility to acknowledge and honor our relationship to Native peoples. May their cherished traditions and customs continue to be passed down for generations to come.
