👩‍💻 Staff Spotlight: Crystal – From Intern to Legal Assistant

Meet Crystal, one of our Legal Assistants with CLARO, the largest program of Human Agenda. 💛

Crystal first joined CLARO as an intern from San José State University. Her commitment to immigrant justice and her hard work made such an impact that she’s now part of our staff as a full-time Legal Assistant.

Today, Crystal supports:
⚖️ Removal defense cases for immigrants in deportation proceedings
🫂 Humanitarian relief applications like asylum and survivor-based visas
📞 Consultations and community support for Santa Clara County immigrants

Her journey from intern to staff shows how investing in young advocates helps grow the movement for immigrant justice. 🌱

This Giving Tuesday, your support helps us continue to mentor interns, hire emerging leaders like Crystal, and keep CLARO fully staffed so no one has to face immigration proceedings alone.

👨‍💼 Staff Spotlight: Hugo, Legal Assistant

Meet Hugo, Legal Assistant with CLARO, the largest program of Human Agenda. Hugo joined CLARO in September, bringing nearly 10 years of experience working in private immigration offices.

Now, he’s using that experience to support:
⚖️ Removal defense for immigrants in deportation proceedings
🫂 Humanitarian cases like asylum and survivor-based relief
📄 Making sure clients’ cases are organized, prepared, and ready for court

Hugo is also training to become a DOJ-accredited representative, so he can directly represent immigrants in their cases and expand our capacity for universal representation.

This Giving Tuesday, your support helps keep experienced staff like Hugo on the team and allows CLARO to continue providing removal defense, humanitarian relief, consultations, and Know Your Rights workshops to the Santa Clara County immigrant community.
