“Our baby girl was born at 34 weeks and had to spend an entire month in the NICU. During our time there, she received nothing but exceptional care from the nurses, doctors, respiratory therapist, etc. As a small token of appreciation, I wanted to donate and share some of my breast milk with other babies in need. Mothers’ Milk Bank California will be closed on Monday, September 1 in observance of Labor Day. Please note that courier services will also be closed that day, so we kindly ask you to plan your donations accordingly!

Please ship your cooler on or before Thursday, August 28, or drop off at a collection center or at our San Jose headquarters on Friday, August 29.

Donations during these two weeks are especially vital. We often see a surge in hospital orders before long weekends, and your generosity ensures babies in the NICU continue receiving the nutrition they depend on. Heartfelt thanks for your cooperation and commitment to helping babies thrive!

As parents and breastfeeding advocates, we know that great things happen when people work together. So, in light of this year’s National Breastfeeding Month theme, “Forward Together,” we’re launching something new to bring this message to life for our tiniest advocates!

Every Monday from August 18 through October 20, drop your frozen milk off at our San Jose, CA headquarters, and you’ll walk away with a special children’s book authored by our very own CEO, Jennifer Benito-Kowalski. ”Is There Still Gold in Bodie?” is a tale of collaboration, cooperation, and taking care of our planet and each other. It’s the perfect conversation starter for talking to kids about the power of moving forward together.

“In November 2024, I began my exclusive pumping journey for my daughter, Aleyna. What started as a commitment to nourish her became something deeper — an act of resilience, devotion, and love.

There were days I wanted to give up — pumping around the clock, seven to eight times a day, exhausted, feeling isolated, all while juggling work, motherhood, and whatever life threw my way. But I kept going, fueled by purpose and the quiet hope that this milk could one day help more than just my baby. Now, with our family preparing to relocate from Hawai‘i for military orders, and my freezer stash full, I’m proud to be donating to Mothers’ Milk Bank California so other babies can thrive too. I chose this bank because their mission spoke to me — and they made the process so easy, even with the added layers of military life.

This little onesie, made just for Aleyna, says: ‘She pumped. I thrived. Exclusively since November 2024.'

This week, we announced the opening of a new Mothers’ Milk Bank collection center at Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center & Children’s Hospital, helping expand access to life-saving donor milk for medically fragile babies and offering parents a convenient drop-off for their extra breast milk.

“Our first baby was a preemie who was born seven weeks early and spent time in the NICU. We received donor milk until my supply came in, and I really hoped one day I would be able to give back somehow. I was able to donate twice—around 1,100oz total! I became a “pro” pumper, or so I thought...

Fast forward to now, with my second baby, I was hoping and praying to have a strong supply again. By day three of my milk coming in, I was producing the same as before, and two weeks later, was producing double that amount every single day.
By the time she was three months old, I had an oversupply of 5,000 ounces stashed in our freezer! Three donations and just shy of 3,200 ounces so far this time around and hopefully many more to go!
