Today’s SCIENCE SAYS: Midlife women SHOULD engage in high-intensity exercise.

Why? Because training in all intensities promotes better fitness and over time, this type of exercise actually lowers your baseline cortisol levels. Plus, women’s bodies respond more powerfully to high-intensity training compared to men!

● More growth hormone
● Better insulin response
● Improved stress response

Despite the online myths circulating, avoiding intensity won’t protect your hormones. Done smartly, high-intensity exercise helps balance them and helps improve your fitness.

In Honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we would love to share Nichole’s Amazing story with all our OTF Family about how she battled and Beat Breast Cancer.

After a breast cancer diagnosis in late 2023, Nichole endured multiple surgeries, chemotherapy, and radiation—treatments that challenged her physically, mentally, and emotionally. Once she completed treatment, she set out to find a wellness routine that could help her rebuild her strength, improve her health, and surround herself with a supportive community.

That’s when a dear friend introduced her to Orangetheory Fitness.
“Going in, I had never done any strength training before and was beyond intimidated,” Nichole shared. “The coaches immediately put me at ease, breaking down the techniques and encouraging me every step of the way. The staff celebrated my milestones and made me feel like I had found the community I was looking for.”

Today, Nichole continues to inspire us with her resilience, courage, and dedication. Her story reminds us that OTF is more than just a workout—it’s a family.

This month, and every month, we celebrate, support, and lift up our breast cancer community. It’s stories like Nichole’s that make us proud to be doing our part.

If you would like to help support the Fight Against Breast Cancer you can do so by scanning the QR Code.

Today’s SCIENCE SAYS: Adults who are inactive are almost TWICE as likely to experience cognitive decline, compared to active adults. A consistent combo of strength and cardio training plays a key role in our brain fitness and overall brain health over time.

Researchers used the FITT-VP principle to assess the effects of exercise on cognitive function. They found that chronic strength and resistance training had the greatest benefit on global cognitive function and executive function respectively.

What does that mean for your brain?
- Improved memory + focus
- A boost in feel-good chemicals
- Reduced risk of long-term cognitive decline and Alzheimer’s disease

And that’s just a snapshot!

Fortunately, it’s never too late to start bulking up on brain power. Have you experienced any brain-boosting incentives along your fitness journey? Let’s hear about them below

Meet Daisy 🌼 — the definition of consistency. A 5am regular at OTF Totowa, she’s transformed her fitness, her mindset, and her life.

In her own words: “Starting Orangetheory in 2023 didn’t just change my fitness — it transformed my mindset. I’ve always had the spark, but Orangetheory gave me the fire. The coaching, the staff, the community — they became the family I didn’t know I needed, and the push I never knew I was missing. Thank you.”

Daisy, you’re proof of what happens when you show up for yourself. We hope you’re so proud. 🧡

Something wicked is brewing under the orange lights … and it’s far more sinister than a few extra burpees. 🧙‍♀️ A coven of witches has crept into the studio, weaving paralyzing spells, cursing tread blocks, and stirring dark magic into every rep. It’s not just Hell Week anymore — it’s Hell Week, hexed. But their sorcery has one weakness: you. From October 24-31, take on 4 of the 8 hellishly hexed workouts to break their curse.

Register now in the mobile app or at your local studio to face the coven head on and send them flying back to their dusty old cauldron. (And yes, you’ll get a shirt — proof you lived to tell the tale.)

Meet Kara — one of the incredible founding members of OTF Woodlake! 🍊

After stepping away to welcome her daughter in November, Kara couldn’t wait to get back under the orange lights. When she heard Woodlake was opening, she jumped at the chance to return to the workouts, the coaches, and the community she missed so much.

For Kara, it’s the friendships, support, and shared goals that make OTF feel like home. She’s a big fan of Tread 50 and already has her sights set on Strength 50 next! 👟🧡

Welcome back, Kara — we’re so glad you’re here.

National Weightlifting Day landing on Press & Squat? Coincidence? Nah. Call it fate — or perfectly chaotic programming. Today reminded us: Strength isn’t about perfection — it’s about progress. It’s the rep you didn’t think you could finish, but did. The weight you were scared to grab, but crushed. The version of you that keeps showing up. Now tell us: What’s your biggest strength win lately? 👀🏋️‍♀️

Our Story

The Science of the Orangetheory Workout The physiological theory behind the Orangetheory workout is known as “Excess Post-Exercise Oxygen Consumption,” or EPOC. By providing you with a heart rate monitor and POD, we can monitor your 5 zone interval training sessions that we call the Orange 60. During the 60 minute workout, you will perform multiple intervals designed to produce 12-20 minutes of training at 84% or higher of your maximum heart rate, which translates to Zones 4/5. This program design produces EPOC, which is the workout “after-burn” effect, meaning that our interval training design produces a 200-400 calorie increase to your metabolism 24-36 hours after your workout. Example: Burn 600-1000 calories during the workout and burn 200-400 more calories from EPOC over the next 24-36 hours. The Orangetheory workout will produce for you increased muscle endurance, power, stamina and tremendous weight loss, if desired. With good music, a talented group trainer and a high energy studio, you have the recipe for a workout that produces BIG and LASTING results.
