Quick tip for Stress Awareness Month:
instead of labeling coping as “good” or “bad,” pause and simply notice it.

Ask yourself:

Does this help me feel more grounded right now, or more drained afterward?

That small moment of awareness can help you gently shift toward coping strategies that support your wellbeing over time.

April is Stress Awareness Month, and it’s a reminder that stress is something we all experience, but we don’t have to navigate it without tools or support.

Grounding techniques are simple, practical ways to help bring your mind and body back to the present moment when things feel overwhelming. They don’t solve everything, but they can create a pause, a bit of steadiness, and space to breathe again.

Save this post for moments when you need something to come back to yourself.

At Advent Group Ministries, we believe mental health support should be accessible, compassionate, and practical. Small tools like these can be a meaningful part of caring for your emotional wellbeing.

If you’re noticing that stress feels heavy or persistent, you don’t have to manage it alone.

Burnout isn’t always about working too hard—it’s often about carrying too much for too long, without enough support or space to recover.

Overcommitment, caregiver fatigue, unprocessed trauma, and lack of boundaries can quietly build over time until they show up as exhaustion, irritability, or feeling disconnected from yourself.

If you’re feeling burned out, it might not be about doing less—it might be about understanding what’s been weighing on you underneath the surface.

You’re allowed to slow down, reassess, and set boundaries that actually protect your wellbeing.

We talk a lot about stress—but burnout hits differently. It’s deeper, heavier, and harder to “bounce back” from.

If you’ve been feeling off, disconnected, or completely drained… it might be more than just a busy week.

Sometimes stress isn’t just “stress.” It’s overwhelm, pressure, fear, or exhaustion all tangled together.

One simple way to start calming your nervous system: name what you’re feeling.

“I’m overwhelmed.”
“I’m anxious.”
“I’m burned out.”

It might feel small, but putting words to your emotions can actually reduce their intensity and help you feel more in control.

This Stress Awareness Month, we’re starting with simple tools that actually make a difference. Stay tuned for more ways to understand and manage your stress 🤍

Healing isn’t one-dimensional—and neither are you.

Whole-person mental health invites us to look beyond symptoms and consider the full picture: our emotional well-being, physical health, relationships, environment, and sense of purpose.

In Meghan’s Place: Conversations on Healing, we explore what it really means to care for yourself as a whole person—and why that matters for lasting healing.

When everything feels overwhelming, come back to the basics.

Here are 6 simple ways to ground yourself in the moment:

Deep Breathing: Slow your inhale and exhale to calm your body
Body Scan: Notice where you’re holding tension and gently release it
Cold Water: Splash your face or hold something cold to reset your system
Sensory Check: Tune into what you can see, hear, and feel around you
Thought Labeling: Name what you’re feeling without judgment
Muscle Relaxation: Gently tense and release different muscle groups

You don’t have to do all of them. Just start with one.

Small tools. Real impact.

Meet Emma 🤍

Emma is a Marriage and Family Therapist Trainee with a strong background in behavioral health. She spent six years working as a Registered Behavior Technician across schools, residential settings, and in-home environments, supporting individuals with developmental disabilities and building skills in behavior management, crisis support, and compassionate care.

She was recently a Wellness Counselor intern at an elementary school, where she supported children’s mental and emotional well-being and worked closely with families and educators. This experience deepened her passion for helping young people grow in supportive, connected environments.

Emma’s path to becoming a therapist grew from her work in behavioral therapy, where she saw the need for more relationship-focused and family-centered care. She is especially drawn to the ways relationships shape healing and believes in supporting the whole system, not just the individual.

She holds a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Capella University and is currently earning her master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy.

In her free time, Emma enjoys music, art, journaling, running, and traveling.

What does it feel like to be the only one in the room—and still expected to belong?

In this powerful episode, Meghan Fouad sits down with writer and diversity advocate LeRon L. Barton to talk about identity, invisibility, and the emotional weight of navigating spaces where you feel unseen.

From imposter syndrome shaped by systemic bias to the healing power of storytelling, this conversation is raw, honest, and deeply human.

If you’ve ever felt like an outsider… this one is for you.
