Meet Kara — one of the incredible founding members of OTF Woodlake! 🍊

After stepping away to welcome her daughter in November, Kara couldn’t wait to get back under the orange lights. When she heard Woodlake was opening, she jumped at the chance to return to the workouts, the coaches, and the community she missed so much.

For Kara, it’s the friendships, support, and shared goals that make OTF feel like home. She’s a big fan of Tread 50 and already has her sights set on Strength 50 next! 👟🧡

Meet 👋🏼 Laurie
NEW Studio Manager | OTFDTSJ & Rose Garden

Laurie comes to us from the Silicon Valley Capital Club where she led a staff of 24 as their Director of Food and Beverage. She also has extensive management experience spanning 15+ years in both small business and with a franchise. She loves working with staff and interacting with customers and she can’t wait to meet everyone!

She attended the University of Michigan and later went on to the Culinary Institute of America and is also a certified Sommelier. She has two adult sons who live in San Jose and she’s an avid trail runner (20 miles a week) and Spartan Race participant!

We're excited to welcome her to the team, be sure to say hello when you see her around the studios!

We also asked Edwin “How/when did you find OTF?”
👤: Prior to becoming a member, I was left curious seeing people work out in an orange-lit room at Rose Garden! Did some online searches, read blogs and felt like it was worth a try. I then realized that downtown San Jose was across my job site and knew I had to check it out. Sent an email, received a phone call from Emma (while I was in Hawaii!!) and she scheduled our introductory session the first week of August 2021. Have enjoyed everyday since!

🍊: What advice can you give new OTF members?
👤: If you’re on social media, begin to follow platforms/groups where other OTF members are a part of. Once you realize that fellow members around the world are all partaking in the same workout you are, it feels like such global unity... seriously! These forums also become encouraging, thought-provoking and supportive. But my advice to you is believe in the strength of your body, show up (even on your low days), STRETCH often and be open to the support that takes place under the orange lights.

🍊: Who/what is your motivation?
👤: The biggest factor that motivated me to OTF was turning 30 this year. I can’t even begin to list the hereditary diseases in my family but I felt I had to take control of my physical and mental health by giving my body the liberty to move. I committed to myself that I’d make significant efforts to prioritize my health and OTF gives me that platform every day that I choose to show up for myself.

Thanks for sharing Edwin. We love your energy and are so happy your OTF fitness journey has been so positive!

We also asked Jenny "What activities do you enjoy outside of OTF?”
👤: Where to start...hahaha...beach bumming, camping, indoor cycling, cardio kickboxing, snowboarding, dirt biking, taking my kid to do fun stuff. Basically anything outside or outside of the house and I'm game!

🍊: What’s your main motivation?
👤: My motivation - being a healthy active mom so my child can learn the habits early! I want to be able to run and jump and play with him as long as he will tolerate me

🍊: Any special talents?
👤: I'm a pretty good cook

Conveniently located near Guadalupe River Park, shopping, and restaurants, our Orangetheory Fitness center in the Rose Garden region of San Jose, California, is the right choice when you're ready to attain your fitness goals. We open early and stay open late in order to accommodate your busy schedule. Our bright, clean and fun fitness studio has plenty of space for changing, and it has a well-lit parking lot.

During a fitness session with us, you'll perform about 60 minutes of intense activity. This is accomplished through interval training. You'll do up to 30 different exercises, each of which helps boost endurance and increase your muscle power. In one session, you could burn up to 1,000 calories!
