Job Description:
East Bay Rheumatology Medical Group, Inc. (EBRMG), a well-established outpatient community -based Rheumatology practice in the Bay Area (San Leandro, CA), is seeking a full time Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) who is highly motivated, compassionate, professional with good interpersonal skills. Strong critical thinking skills and ability to formulate diagnosis and treatment plans are necessary.
EBRMG serves a highly diverse ethnic and socioeconomic population vulnerable to poor outcomes without advanced Rheumatologic therapies. In addition to seeing clinic patients, the practice uniquely has a clinical research department on-site, which collaborates with pharmaceutical companies to study exciting new biologic drugs that are entering the market. Unlike clinics owned by larger hospital systems, as a completely independent practice, EBRMG offers practitioners better work/life balance with potential for income growth beyond salary, through bonuses. The NP or PA would work both independently and along-side 2 highly experienced Rheumatology physicians who have extensive clinical, research and teaching experience. The NP or PA would have the opportunity to learn, hands-on, about interesting autoimmune conditions and the revolutionary biologic therapies that treat these conditions.
Requirements:
Experience in Rheumatology, Orthopedics, or Internal Medicine preferred but not required.
PA must be licensed, registered or certified in the State of California. Must be a graduate of an accredited physician assistant program; NCCPA certified.
NP must have a current Registered Nurse and Adult Practice Nurse License in the State of California. Must have a Master's Degree in Nursing from an accredited program. Must have National Certification as a Nurse Practitioner.
Current BCLS certification and ACLS Certification required.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Evaluate new and return patients through: taking a detailed medical history, conducting a thorough physical exam, ordering appropriate laboratory and radiographic testing, and reviewing medications and side-effects on follow-up visits.
Conduct ultrasound-guided joint injections (upon training).
Monitor patients who are receiving biologic medications at the in-office infusion suite by infusion nurses. Performs interventions such as aspiration and injection of joints with Ultrasound guidance.
Assist with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) inbox messaging: patient messages, medication refill requests, etc.
