Knee deep in file cabinets, auditing files and documents✨
Receipts, children’s documents, insurance policies, etc. I approach my sessions as a “deep organizer” meaning I like to touch everything. Every. Piece. Of. Paper. Working through years of life, it is so important to me to be thorough, ask questions, and get a feel of what our end goal is.

✨before and mid project update✨

I’ve been hard at work organizing and cleaning up this wonderful teachers prep space, with the desire to “reset” her classroom before a new teacher moves in.
Teachers really make the world go round, and watching this specific teacher teach and listening to her lessons has inspired me to be more creative! as I am starting an expressive art journal this evening, with the intention of tapping into my own creativity and freedom of expression. The passion and love of the art world is not something you do, but guided by the love and uniqueness of each of our unique human experience.

I am loving the work I’m doing for the teachers and am so excited to be able to take tasks and projects off of teachers already overloaded plates. ☀️

While this corner of the room is not 100% complete, I will have a full and beautiful after photo when completed✨

This morning I popped into the Dollar Tree on Stony Point and Sebastopol Rd and was not disappointed, I was pretty ecstatic actually! Clean, organized, and full of smart solutions.

Yesterday was a busy Friday for It Takes A Village! Coffee appointment in morning, the start of a home organizing project, and a routine home clean all in one day!
Along the way we met 3 dogs, 3 cats, and 2 kiddos! It was wonderful, busy day doing what I do! I’m so grateful for being invited into peoples homes and help create content and solitude in their living spaces✨

It Takes A Village action shots ✨

Yesterday, I started a project in a beautiful, quirky home built in the 1930’s, with SO MUCH storage and space. I really love this house and the family living in it!
We started our session by walking through the house, and looking at their space, how they use it, and what they envision!
Our first portion was on the most used linen closet during our 2 hour session. The last slide is the finished product, without the smaller containers to contain, which will be brought at the next time I’m over there. Im more concerned with function over aesthetics at this point in my practice. (Almost like I’m a Doctor now… Doctor of spaces! 🤣)

When starting on a new space, I take everything out of the space, and then analyze with my client.
✨ what is functional in the space
✨ what can be relocated to another space
✨ if there are oddball items in here, ask questions about why this has landed here? Why is it here?
✨ if the client discussed the desire to “purge” or get rid of items, I try and keep the clients nearby so that they can see the items that are in the space, and make the decisions there in the moment.
✨ after the decision to get rid of an item, we then designate if it’s to be sold, listed in free Facebook groups, or be donated to any of Sonoma County’s local nonprofits. Lately I’ve been donating to good organization with impact in the community. (And awesome thrift store on top that!)
✨ as the organizer, my job is to help you adjust the space to accommodate your daily habits, and uses of the space to ensure that it is being maximized and easy to use.
✨often times, an objective eye can help you let go of your unused items, when asked the right questions!

I am so excited to continue work on this family’s home and maximize all of their space!

Weekly round up:
I’ve been a little behind on posting this week because my clients have been keeping me BUSY!
This week, I’ve started growing my relationships with clients, getting my boots (or socks, more appropriately) on the ground and in-homes organizing, cleaning, and doing the Do!

Take a peek here at this before photo of one of my clients “home hub.” This client of mine had recently undergone a remodel and was ready to square away this highly used space that houses their home office supplies, kids games, artwork, and craft supplies. This is a work in progress!
This family is so involved in community and local educational boards that I am working on a system that can handle and be easy to maintain with the important paperwork that comes along with kiddos, leadership, and being involved in different organizations.
This mom is so sweet and definitely busy, I can’t wait to implement a system that works for her and her beautiful family.

Take a look at what 3 hours of DEEP organization looks like!
During this session, we:
✨touched every piece of paper and decided to keep or toss.
✨organized documents of similarity together, and if they are current or archivable
✨started discussing a system of easier record keeping, storing, and extending our view into the room as a whole. How to utilize the office space to ensure proper record keeping, stress free organization, and how we can incorporate a paperless system down the road.
While the before and after does not show what the true impact of this session was, the relief and excitement I saw in my clients eyes, was priceless✨
