Save the date for The Human Bean’s "Coffee for a Cure" fundraiser on Friday, October 17th, at all of their locations in San Luis Obispo County. All food and drink sales will be donated to French Hospital’s Hearst Cancer Resource Center (HCRC) to support no-cost cancer programs and services including mammograms, post-diagnosis care, and education. Our HCRC staff and a Foundation team member will staff the drive through at each location that morning: Morro Bay, Atascadero, and Templeton.

The Atascadero Police Department will also be on site at The Human Bean's Atascadero location for "Coffee with a Cop" and to sell pink, collectible uniform patches and lapel pins—as part of their "Pink Patch Project"—to support the Hearst Cancer Resource Center at French Hospital. 🩷

Joseph, a hospital visitor, recently shared how a French Hospital staff member brightened his day with kindness.

When he didn’t have the appropriate payment method for the hospital cafe, Ultrasound Technologist Cherish Ryan—who stood behind him in line—offered to buy his meal. Joseph later returned to the hospital to present Cherish with two framed photos of the meals that she paid for and a handwritten “thank you” note.

We appreciate our amazing hospital staff who exemplify “Hello Humankindness” every day. 🧡

As part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Hearst Cancer Resource Center (HCRC) and French Hospital are offering free screening mammograms to uninsured and underinsured patients at the Women's Health and Imaging Center. There are two sessions planned—October 8 and October 22—in San Luis Obispo. Appointments are required. Please call HCRC Patient Navigator Jessica Reyes at (805) 235-3641 for more information.

Join us for this special event as French Hospital’s Hearst Cancer Resource Center and Jamestown Properties host the Cancer Partners Resource Fair on Sunday, September 28, at 879 Higuera St. in San Luis Obispo. Attendees will enjoy refreshments, live music, free resources, and free parking, while also learning about local organizations who help support cancer survivors. We enjoyed a recent visit from Eva, an eight-year-old Vizsla who serves patients, visitors, and staff at French Hospital alongside her owner, Patty, a retired nurse who worked at French Hospital for over 30 years. Patty says Eva loves people more than anything. “Eva wags her tail from the time we pull into the parking lot until we leave.”
