The Lives Well Lived project is a heartfelt collaboration between Sara Bartlett’s Psychology of Aging class at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, Lives Well Lived filmmaker and Art & Design Professor Emeritus Sky Bergman, and The Villages of San Luis Obispo.
This meaningful program brought together older adults and college students to foster connection, conversation, and a deeper understanding across generations. It kicked-off with a screening of the award-winning documentary Lives Well Lived at The Villages, followed by a series of one-on-one or small group interviews between students and residents. Through these thoughtful conversations, both generations shared life stories, lessons, and what it truly means to live a life well lived.
The program wrapped with a celebration where Cal Poly students presented heartfelt memoir projects to their older adult partners — a touching tribute to the wisdom and joy shared throughout the experience.
Proudly hosted at The Villages each year since 2018, this intergenerational experience continues to inspire, connect, and uplift.
