Who is a good candidate for LASIK?

According to Dr. Robert Higginbotham, LASIK vision correction is typically best suited for patients who meet certain eye health and prescription stability criteria. One important factor is having a thicker cornea, which can make a patient a strong candidate for the procedure.

During consultation, a full evaluation is done to ensure the eyes are healthy and LASIK is the right fit for long-term vision improvement.

If you’ve ever wondered whether LASIK could work for you, a comprehensive eye exam is the best first step. Call (805) 545-8100 or request your appointment here: https://www.paceyemd.com/request-an-appointment/.

How often should you have your eyes checked if you don’t wear glasses?

Dr. Robert Dirksen explains that even without vision correction needs, routine eye exams are still an important part of protecting long-term eye health. Many eye conditions can develop quietly, without obvious symptoms in the early stages—so regular checkups help catch issues before they become more serious.

If it’s been a while since your last eye exam, now is a great time to stay on top of your vision health. Call (805) 545-8100 or request your appointment here: https://www.paceyemd.com/request-an-appointment/.

Our Pacific Eye Surgeons team had a great experience attending the ASCRS/ASOA (American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery / American Society of Ophthalmic Administrators) meeting, connecting with peers and staying engaged in the latest advancements in eye care and practice management.

A fun highlight from the event, our team member, Pauline, was spotted fully immersed in the experience with VR goggles on, exploring innovative technology in action!

At the dinner table, members of the Pacific Eye Surgeons physician team came together, with Dr. Amir, Dr. Speigel, and Dr. Oldenburg seated side by side in that order, sharing conversation and camaraderie outside of the clinic.

Moments like these reflect a shared commitment to learning, collaboration, and continued growth in delivering quality eye care.

Did you know that falling asleep with your contact lenses in can significantly increase your risk of eye infections and irritation?

Even an occasional nap in your contacts can reduce oxygen to your eyes and lead to dryness, discomfort, or more serious complications. Practicing proper lens care is a simple way to protect your vision and keep your eyes healthy. Read the blog to learn more: https://ow.ly/uOnX50YxO16

Did you know that 20/20 vision doesn’t necessarily mean perfect vision? It simply means you can see details clearly at 20 feet what most people can see at that distance, but it doesn’t measure depth perception, eye coordination, or overall eye health. Other aspects like contrast sensitivity, focusing ability, and even eye diseases aren’t captured by this number alone.

Learn what 20/20 really means and why comprehensive exams matter in our latest blog: https://www.paceyemd.com/blog/what-does-it-mean-to-have-20-20-vision-key-insights-explained/
