BREAKING: Brigadier General Alan R. Gronewold, the Head of the Oregon National Guard, enrages MAGA world by bravely testifying that his troops will focus on "protecting any protesters" at ICE facilities if they're deployed.

This is NOT the fascist fantasy that Republicans envisioned...

“One, to defend America, and two, to protect Oregonians. And so by serving in this mission, they will be protecting any protesters at the ICE facility," Gronewold said of the National Guard's priorities while testifying in front of Oregon lawmakers.

While the testimony before a state Senate subcommittee occurred on September 30th, the footage has since gone viral, with MAGA world reacting with outrage while normal, patriotic Americans are praising Gronewold's remarks.

Trump has been trying to characterize the city of Portland, Oregon as a "war zone" to justify his authoritarian crackdowns. The city and state are now awaiting a decision from the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit on Trump's ability to deploy the National Guard. Over the weekend a federal judge paused Trump's troop mobilization, but the final decision is still up in the air.

Gronewold told the lawmakers that his soldiers would be trained in “protective crowd control" before deploying. MAGA supporters were hoping for a bloodthirsty attack on protestors similar to what Trump's brutal, masked ICE agents have displayed.

“We’re the home team, and our job is to protect and serve Oregonians, and we follow lawful orders, and that’s what we’re doing. Please treat them with dignity and respect," Gronewold added.

In a letter sent to his troops on September 29th, Gronewold said that they must obey the president and governor, but reminded them that they're sworn to uphold the Constitution — an oath that could prove to be a serious stumbling block for Trump's authoritarian ambitions.

“I know some of you may have strong feelings about this mission. That’s Okay. You are citizens first, but you’re also service members who took an oath to support and defend the Constitution and follow the orders of the President and the Governor,” wrote Gronewold. “That oath doesn’t come with an asterisk that says, ‘Only when I agree with the mission.’”

This is the kind of courage that America desperately needs right now. While Republicans are fantasizing about a civil war and urging their draft-dodging president to escalate his fascist tactics, hard-working professional, military men like General Gronewold are holding the line. Thank you for your service.

BREAKING: A federal judge deals Donald Trump a CRUSHING late Thursday defeat by blocking his deployment of National Guard troops to Chicago because it blatantly violates the Constitution.

MAGA world is howling in rage over this one...

"Not even Alexander Hamilton could have envisioned one state's militia to be used against another state's residents because the president wants to punish those with views other than his own," stated U.S. District Judge April Perry.

“I have seen no credible evidence that there is danger of rebellion in the state of Illinois,” she said from the bench.

“I simply cannot credit [the Trump administration’s] declarations to the extent they contradict state and local law enforcement,” she added. “DHS’ perception of events are simply unreliable.”

The Trump administration has been desperately trying to paint Chicago as a "lawless" war zone to justify deploying troops — including the Texas National Guard — to the city. In reality, it's a naked power grab on the part of a would-be dictator that does nothing to make Americans safer. Trump is burning through our tax dollars to pay for a pointless strongman PR stunt for his gullible base.

Judge Perry ruled that the deployment violates both the 10th and 14th amendments as well as the Posse Comitatus Act 1878 which expressly forbids the U.S. military from conducting “law enforcement” operations within the United States.

The only time that Posse Comitatus can be broken by the president is when Congress grants express permission, which it hasn't, or when the Insurrection Act has been invoked, which it hasn't.

Perry's ruling places a temporary restraining order on the deployment that is expected to last at least 14 days. She intends on issuing another ruling tomorrow.

"I think Judge Perry did a very careful job of weighing the evidence, weighing the credibility of the evidence and those declarations that served as the testimony to be considered as to whether or not the President of the United States could and should federalize and deploy the National Guard into our great city and our great state and I think after doing so she made the correct decision to enter a temporary restraining order," said Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul.

"I might add that this is an important decision not just for the state of Illinois but for the entire country. The question of state sovereignty was addressed in this decision. The question of whether or not the President of the United States should have unfettered authority to militarize our cities was answered today, and I want to thank every member of the legal team, those you see behind me who argued who drafted carefully and all those who supported them," he added.

"Donald Trump is not a king — and his administration is not above the law. Today, the court confirmed what we all know: there is no credible evidence of a rebellion in the state of Illinois. And no place for the National Guard in the streets of American cities like Chicago," stated Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker.

BREAKING: Colombian President Gustavo Petro exposes the horrifying truth behind Donald Trump's murderous strikes on boats in the Caribbean and destroys the lie that they're part of a "war against smuggling."

This is absolutely grounds for impeachment...

"Senator Adam Schiff is correct. Now I find myself in a meeting with the European governments and I will say the same thing. A new war scenario has opened up: the Caribbean," Petro wrote on X.

He quote-tweeted a post from Schiff in which the senator announced an effort to block Trump's use of the military to carry out the Caribbean strikes because they are "illegal and risk dragging America into another war.

"Indications show that the last boat bombed was Colombian with Colombian citizens inside it," Petro continued. "I hope their families come forward and report it. There is no war against smuggling; what there is is a war for oil and it must be stopped by the world. The aggression is against all of Latin America and the Caribbean."

His analysis is spot on. These military strikes are clearly designed for two purposes. The first is to drag the United States closer to war with Venezuela, a long simmering objective of the American military-industrial complex and war hawks like Secretary of State Marco Rubio. They want to get their hands on Venezuela's vast oil reserves and are willing to drag America into another disastrous war to achieve that goal.

The second purpose of the strikes is to bolster Trump's strongman persona with his MAGA base. Releasing videos of the murderous bombings of these boats — which for all we know could have been carrying migrants innocent fishermen — is a vile as it is transparent. Trump sees these murders as just another PR stunt.

Petro previously spoke before the United Nations and called for a criminal investigation into Trump's strikes, stating that the victims were not Tren De Aragua gang members as claimed by the White House but were “simply poor young people from Latin America who had no other option.”

The time to launch that investigation is now. If the world stands by waiting, we will soon seen a tragic new war erupt.

BREAKING: Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson makes himself MAGA Enemy #1 by slamming Donald Trump's fascist deployment of National Guard to the city as "illegal, unconstitutional" and "dangerous."

Republicans were hoping he would just roll over as the tanks roll in...

“As far as what we are hearing, the National Guard — first of all, it’s illegal, unconstitutional, it’s dangerous, it’s wrong. This is not about deportation. This is not about safety for this president,” Johnson said at a press conference. He stated that the Trump administration has failed to share their plans for the unprecedented deployment.

“This is about authoritarianism. It’s about stoking fear. It’s about breaking the Constitution that would give him that much more control over our American cities,” Johnson continued.

“This president is determined to federalize the National Guard and to occupy our cities with the military,” Johnson said. “It’s unconscionable. It’s unthinkable, but this is America today, and we’re going to do everything in our power to ensure that our democracy is ultimately protected.”

Texas National Guard troops have already begun arriving in the city, amounting to a shocking attack on Illinois' sovereignty. As usual, Republicans only believe in "states' rights" when it comes to red states.

While Trump is insisting that these authoritarian crackdowns are about fighting "lawlessness," it's evident that they're really about enforcing the convicted felon's will on blue states and projecting a strongman persona to his base. At the same time, he's hoping to normalize the sight of armed troops on our city streets as he drives towards his vision of a MAGA dystopia in which he rules over us all as king.

Illinois and Chicago have already filed a lawsuit to block Trump's deployment to the city, correctly labeling it "unlawful and dangerous."

“The American people, regardless of where they reside, should not live under the threat of occupation by the United States military, particularly not simply because their city or state leadership has fallen out of a president’s favor,” the suit reads.

This is a critical turning point in American history. We need politicians like Mayor Johnson to speak up forcefully and we must speak out ourselves until this Trumpian threat is defeated. Nothing less than the fate of American democracy is on the line.
