Special Olympics Southern California - Region 1 Special Olympics changes lives by providing year-round sports training and competition for individuals with intellectual disabilities. It is training for life.

Special Olympics is more than a sports program for people with intellectual disabilities. Special Olympics athletes are five times more likely to hold a job than the general population of people with intellectual disabilities. They are also more physically fit, have more friends, and learn to set goals for themselves.

Full campus energy from TK to 5th grade! We kicked off Madroña Academy of the Arts and Sciences’ Unified Field Day with an inspiring message from Special Olympics Global Messenger Ryan Rose, who spoke about inclusion, students then led the Special Olympics Athlete Oath, and set the tone for the entire day.

From there, it was all action every single student TK through 5th grade participated, showing what true whole school engagement looks like!

Huge shoutout to our ASB leaders who led each activity rotation, bringing the energy, guiding their peers, and making sure everyone felt included every step of the way. This is leadership, this is community, this is Unified 💙

Throwback Thursday to April 18th and the 1st Annual Ventura Spring Games! What an incredible day bringing together 300+ athletes from across Southern California for athletics, swimming, and flag football! 💪🏊‍♂️🏈
The energy, competition, and sportsmanship were absolutely unmatched. From record-breaking performances to unforgettable moments of teamwork, this is what community sports is all about!
Beyond the competition, we’re proud to have partnered with the Healthy Initiatives team who brought health promotion screenings to the games and conducted 34 screenings throughout the day! Thank you to Cal State Channel Islands for your commitment to athlete wellness!
Huge shoutout to Oaks Christian Schools for opening your amazing facilities and being the perfect host venue! A big thanks to Firehouse Subs for partnering with us to make this dream a reality! Here’s to the athletes who gave it their all, the volunteers who made it happen, and everyone who came out to support. This is just the beginning!
