Physician of Chinese Medicine, Founder of Zen Den, Consultant and Coach This constant flow of energy keeps the organs healthy and the body balanced.

According to Chinese philosophy, Energy, called “qi” (pronounced “chee”), flows like rivers along pathways, or meridians, throughout the body. This flow of energy can become blocked, like water accumulating in a dam, and the disruption can lead to illness and musculoskeletal pain. The technique of acupuncture involves placing hair-thin needles at various points (called acupoints) along the body's meridians, thereby stimulating these points and promoting the body’s natural healing capabilities and enhancing its function. Michelle Hamilton is a Board Licensed Acupuncturist in the state of California specializing in women’s health, orthopedic injuries, pain management and herbology. She is a native of San Luis Obispo and a Cal Poly graduate. While completing her undergraduate degree at Cal Poly, Michelle began her journey toward a healing profession by becoming a Certified Massage Therapist and a Personal Trainer. She completed her graduate studies at Emperor’s College of Oriental Medicine in Santa Monica. During her studies, Michelle had the opportunity to intern at UCLA orthopedic medical clinic, and graduated with academic honors.

Questions to ask yourself when creating a new offering:
1.Does this offer provide value for my patients?
2.Does this offering fulfill a specific need I’ve personally heard expressed by my patients? (Affordable acupuncture, accessible appointment times, etc)
3. Is this an offering that is in alignment with my authentic code? (Is it in alignment with my value system, is it moving in the direction I want to go in, does it light me up or does it feel like another obligation?)
Remember, sometimes it’s more important what you say NO to rather than what you say YES to. Practice discernment, your energy is your authentic currency, spend it wisely. ✨

The last couple years I’ve been feeling called to work with the moon cycle to set intentions in my business and personal life and Ive found that planting seeds with the cosmic feminine energy of the moon and nourishing those seeds into fruition is so much easier than muscling it on my own. 💪🏼
Utilizing ritual, intention, and manifestation is an alternate way to achieve what we want. I’ve found that yin practices like ceremony, ritual, and manifestation feel truer to my feminine nature in that they are less taxing to my adrenals and far more effective than my old “yang” ways. 🌱
This upcoming new moon is in Earthy Capricorn, the ruler of structure, ambition and career. It’s an ideal time to place our focus on business goals and what we’d like to co-create this upcoming year.
This ceremony will be hosted on zoom and recorded for those who can’t attend the live version. More than a goal setting workshop this ceremony is more about feeling our way into our goals, then defining the action steps to get there. Sagittarius, the cosmic explorer brings a unique seasoning to this new moon during the holiday season. While this new moon has me examining where I want to go next this coming year in my business, relationships and personal development it also has me examining the boundaries I have in place to protect my energy and heart, which will ultimately allow me yo reach my goals.
The pericardium is the meridian associated with Sagittarius, so the symptoms and energetics around this meridian will be applied for about five days before and five days after the new moon. The pericardium is considered the “heart protector” in Chinese medicine. It has the tremendous responsibility to allow our hearts to experience joy and sadness. If the pericardium is weak we can actually get stuck in these emotional states and deplete our body’s Qi or primal life force.
A strong pericardium calls for strong boundaries, which I believe is what is being asked of us to contemplate this holiday season.
The acupuncture point PC 7 is philosophically named “great mound” as the highest point is where we can see where we can set our sight on where are going as well as appreciating how far we’ve come. A great point to work with in new moon intention settings, or to anoint with the recommended oil, May Chang.

The top 3 things I wish I knew before I started my practice 14 years ago:
1. A lot of the most effective point combinations are NOT taught to us in school! TCM is super effective for a lot of internal chronic conditions but there are other techniques that I have found get patients out of pain a lot faster. Faster results equal more satisfied patients, and ultimately more referrals. Invest in trainings and CEU courses to sharpen your skills and set you a part from other providers. (Check out my free PDF offering entitled “Divine Dozen Point Prescriptions” in the bio for a free cheat sheet on this.)
2.Acupuncture is AMAZING, but ultimately YOU are the product. Your charisma, compassion, empathy, energy and clinical results are what is going to make you a provider that patients will be drawn to. Invest in your personal growth and you will reap the rewards ten fold in your practice.
3. The more VALUE you provide your patients the more they will keep coming back. 🧲

I’ve got a secret for ya! Your ability to lead or facilitate healing with others is deeply connected to your ability to regulate your nervous system.
Triggers are everywhere and unfortunately the more you step out to shine your light the more dark will try to take you down. Triggered leaders and healers can’t make decisions from a triggered space, well I guess you can, but more than likely those reactions will be the decisions you regret the most later. 😞 To be the best at what we do we must take the time needed to self regulate so our brain can get online to decide what is the best next step to take.
Floating, sauna, reiki, hot epsom salt baths, meditation, breathwork, therapy, journaling and of course acupuncture are some of the ways I regulate my nervous system when needed.
