As a Cancer Patient (even if you're not) Five Reasons You Should Ask for Help:
1. We underestimate how willing people are to help us
2. Without asking, we are anticipating barriers where barriers may not exist
3. Something called “helpers high” actually lowers a person’s stress hormone
4. Always express gratitude whether or not the request is honored
5. The research tells us that giving someone help is not as burdensome as we might think

Should you tell your employer about your breast cancer diagnosis?
The answer should be based on how willing you are to have others know what you're facing. If you decide to share (we highly recommend):
1) Come prepared with questions and find out about any employee assistance programs (EAPs) offered.
2) Work with them on a plan to handle assignments in the event you’ll be absent from work.
3) Ask for grace when there are days where your performance may be lower than usual.
The more prepared you are, the better you’ll feel going into treatment and the more focused you can be on your own recovery.

Cancer mortality decreases with higher moderate to vigorous physical activity levels across diagnoses...
That means that we who are fighting cancer need to fight the tendency to give up on exercise.
Please don't... give yourself the gift of an increased life span. Workout at whatever level you can.

It's certainly not a day to celebrate, however we observe Triple Negative Breast Cancer Day today.
Still, much work to do... we hope an effective treatment is found soon.

This Triple Negative Breast Cancer Day, we’re shining a light on TNBC—an aggressive subtype that disproportionately affects younger and Black women and has historically had limited targeted treatment options.

Today, that story is shifting. Breakthroughs in research have led to new therapies—including immunotherapy and other targeted approaches—bringing more options and real momentum.

This is concerning.
Overall, cancer patients are not getting screened as often as the general population.
We hope you are diligent about staying checked and tested for a possible recurrence.

Investigators reviewed medical literature to determine the prevalence of breast cancer screening among female survivors of a prior cancer other than breast cancer and to compare the likelihood of undergoing breast cancer screening between cancer survivors and cancer-free controls.

We know.
