Nothing like approaching your baby’s first birthday to finally motivate you to post his birth photos and video! 🤪

Almost a year ago, Leo was born! Here’s the story ❤️

Two days after my “due date” I was having zero signs of labor and wondering if he was going to stay in for another 8 days like his older brother did.

The next morning, at 3:45am, I woke up to the first contraction. I managed to stay in bed through the contractions until about 5:45am when I finally woke up Brooks and contacted my birth team. I think I ate a little breakfast and labored in my room alone while Brooks ran around getting everything ready and getting our older son, Koa, ready for the day.

At 7:45am the contractions had been consistently 3 mins apart for an hour so I called the birth team to come and the grandparents arrived to take care of Koa.

Things really started to pick up at this point so I was so relieved when Brooks and my midwives were finally able to be by my side.

I got in the birth tub and it helped bring a little bit of relief but it was still really intense. My first birth was 12 hours long, and at this point in this second birth it had only been 5 hours, so I was a little worried about how much longer I could handle this level of intensity. Thankfully I think those thoughts were happening during transition so I was near the end, even though I wasn’t sure of it at the time!

I started pushing a bit in the birth tub, but eventually got out and tried other positions to help things along. My midwife knew I wanted to try giving birth in the water, so she suggested I get back in the tub for the final pushes. Somehow for the push where his head emerged I ended up standing up out of the water a bit (once his head is out of the water you can’t go back in the water) so I had to stay standing/squatting over the water for the final push which actually ended up working out because his hand was up by his face and the cord wrapped around him, so my midwife was able to help him a bit and then hand it to me.

10:15am He was born!

If you get overwhelmed when first learning how to chart your cycle- always come back to these two simple facts✨👇

1️⃣ If you see cervical fluid, you can consider yourself fertile. This would mean you would want to abstain or use protection if trying to prevent pregnancy.

2️⃣ A distinct shift and rise in temperature means ovulation has occurred, and you are exiting the fertile phase of your cycle. This would mean that after a count of 3 days following this rise in temperature, you are no longer considered fertile.

So often women say, oh I don’t wake up at the same time everyday so I can’t use FAM, but the reality is, you don’t have to be perfect about taking your temp in the morning, just consistent enough to be able to see a distinct rise in temperature which confirms ovulation📈✨

The benefit of learning FAM with an instructor is that I can help you figure out how to make FAM work for your lifestyle, regardless of wake times, or sleep disruptions etc🌱☺️

Have you ever wondered how you actually detect your fertile window??

The answer is, through cervical fluid changes💃💃

Throughout a cycle, cervical fluid will progress from dry, to moist, to egg-white. When the sensation and observations turn from dry to moist, this means that you are in your fertile window🌱🌱

When cervical fluid observations go back to dry, you can be confident that you are out of your fertile window after a count of 3 days and a rise in your basal body temperature🌡️

If you want to learn exactly how to detect cervical fluid, I am here to help✨

I always tells my clients, your chart will almost never look like a “textbook” chart or even look the same month to month, and that’s completely okay💫

In this chart example maybe ovulation was delayed, but it’s still totally possible to determine her fertile phase based on her two fertility signs⬇️⬇️

1️⃣Her fertile phase opened at the first sight of fertile cervical fluid - represented by the blue squares.

2️⃣And her fertile phase closed when she saw a consistent basal body temperature rise- represented by the blue line.

If you feel like your chart looks “all over the place,” just focus on looking for these main components. And if you’re still in doubt, I’m here to help✨✨

Have you ever wondered what a charted cycle looks like✨✨

It may look intimidating at first, but when you break it down it is quite simple⬇️⬇️

You chart two things:
1️⃣Fertile cervical fluid - represented by the blue squares.
2️⃣Basal Body Temperature - represented by the blue line.

When you learn the Fertility Awareness Method you can confidently read your chart to determine your exact fertile window, and if you’re ever in doubt, I’m always here to help my clients💃

What if you could go to bed every night knowing whether or not you were fertile🌱🌱

Well, when you chart your cycle, you can answer this question with confidence every single day.

When you chart your cycle, you are looking at various signs that the body provides based on hormonal activity, that tells you if you are in your fertile window and approaching ovulation⬇️⬇️

What are these signs?

✨Cervical Fluid✨
+
🌡️Basal Body Temperature🌡️

These signs that change in the fertile phase are a result of the hormonal activity that occurs around ovulation.

Because you live in your individual body every day, you can learn your body’s language in order to confidently answer the question:
💫“Am I Fertile Today?”💫

You may have had a great experience with a certain birth control, and a really terrible experience on another. There is power in women sharing their experiences, so I would love to hear your story below 👇

You shouldn’t have to suffer with unwanted side effects (even if they are minor like mine were) just to avoid getting pregnant.

I consider myself lucky because there has since been major lawsuits again Bayer, the maker of the Yaz brand of pill I was on, for not warning consumers enough of the risk of blood clots.

Even if you feel physically and emotionally fine on your birth control method, you deserve to have true informed consent where you get to choose what risks level you’re comfortable with✨

If you’re unhappy with the birth control you’re on, I encourage you to stand up for yourself and find one that you feel better on, whether that be a different kind of birth control or an all natural method like the Fertility Awareness Method (FAM)🌱

If you’re finally ready for an all natural option, FAM could be a great option for you! I’ve got you covered with everything you need to learn in my course📣

If only the magic of ✨cervical fluid✨ was taught to every girl and woman! 🤓

For those of you who missed out on this important education: The cervix creates a mucus that changes in consistency depending on where you are hormonally in your menstrual cycle.

When your estrogen rises after menstruation, your cervical fluid will become sticky, then creamy and then like eggwhites.

Only when this fluid is present can s***m survive long enough to potentially fertilize an egg when it’s ovulated and get you pregnant.🤰
