CURE SLO Healing the sick, proclaiming the Kingdom of God CURE SLO is a university chapter of the non-profit organization CURE International.

CURE operates charitable hospitals and programs in 29 countries around the world providing medical care to kids with disabilities and the good news of God's love for them. We are a part of a network of universities across the United States who are passionate about supporting the work of CURE. We do this in the context of community - we welcome people from all walks of life and belief systems because healing kids is something everyone can get on board with. We do bake sales, barn dances, open-mic nights, benefit concerts, craft days, paint clubfoot braces, host weekly meetings, make get-well cards and video messages to send to CURE kids and we partner with the SLO and Cal Poly community in various ways. Join us - let's heal kids together!

Happy ! This week’s story is Gail, age 16, from Niger who is being treated for a limb deformity! Since Gali was five years old, his legs have splayed out due to a severe leg deformity. Gali struggles to walk even with the assistance of a sturdy tree branch he has fashioned into a cane. Thankfully, Gali’s uncle struck up a chance friendship with one of our CURE Niger employees and ecstatically passed our message of hope on to Gali. Gali and his mother have now made the journey here to our hospital where he will receive the healing he needs to stand tall and straight! We missed , so today we’re bringing ya a ! This week’s story is Charles, age 4, from Kenya who is being treated for club foot! Charles was born with clubfoot and his hand was also deformed. Grace, Charles’ mom says, “When I came here (CURE), I had a lot of pain in my heart. Back at home people really ridiculed me and said bad things about me and my child.” Thankfully he came to CURE Kenya and had surgery. An update from yesterday shares that his swelling has gone down so he was able to get a cast! He’ll wear it for six weeks and then come back probably ready to use an ankle brace! Happy ! This week’s stories Rudo, age 8, from Malawi who is being treated for a tissue condition. Rude has cavovarus foot, which is a deformity that often results from an imbalance of muscle forces. Her mom Agness didn’t start notice until Rudo’s feet started bending at age 3. The adults and children would be unkind to their family because of Rudo’s disability. Thankfully, Rudo made it to CURE! She had an operation this month and an update from today shares that she was discharged! Rude had her last physic session where she walked around like a champ! She;ll be back at the Lilongwe clinic in July! (Story from https://cure.org/curekids/) @ Beit CURE International Hospital, Malawi

Happy ! This week’s story is Mahamadou, age 6, from Niger who is being treated for burn contractors. Mahamadou’s hands were badly burned many years ago when he was very young. Mahamadou’s hands eventually healed into two useless clubs. He cannot eat by himself, pick anything up, or dress himself. “Mahamadou gets made fun of a lot,” Hinda, his mother, says. Thankfuly Hinda heard rumors of CURE Niger and now Mahamadou is there. It will be a long process to heal Mahamadou’s hands, but one that is entirely possible! Happy ! This week’s story is Yobo, age 14, from Zambia who is being treated for a bone condition. Yobo hails from within Lusaka. He injured himself way back in 2012 when he fell out of a guava tree and decided to not disclose the injury to anyone. During that time, the injured leg developed an infection which made the predicament much much worse. Thankfully, Yobo was discovered by one of CURE’s doctors, Dr. Moyo. An update from today shares that Yobo has been cleared by Dr. Moyo to continue recovering from home! He left over the weekend and he will be back soon for another follow up appointment, please be praying for his healing, also pray that there wouldn't be any complications at home!
