We recently celebrated our "Trunk or Treat," kicking off the Halloween season with costumes, candy, and community fun! It was a great reminder that while Halloween is all about fun, staying safe should be part of the plan. When trick-or-treating, it's always better to go out in a group. Sticking to familiar, well-lit streets can help drivers see children more easily. Trips and falls can also be dangerous, but carrying flashlights or glow sticks and wearing reflective clothing can help prevent them. Before anyone digs into the candy, take a minute to check it because a little caution goes a long way.

Licensed Vocational Nurse Emily Piña went from nurse to patient when she suffered an unexpected stroke at work. But with the help of her team and Family Practice Physician Dr. Deborah Andrado, she was transported to our New Braunfels hospital, where she got the stroke care she needed. When a stroke is suspected, every minute counts. And thanks to our Associates’ quick thinking and swiftness in helping one of our own during a medical crisis, Emily is now a proud stroke survivor.

For six years, President and CEO of the San Marcos Area Chamber of Commerce Page Michel lived with atrial fibrillation (AFib). Although she managed it with two medications, they came with notorious side effects.
Over the past three months, her condition worsened with daily heart palpitations and a general sense of feeling unwell. A chance meeting with Director of Clinical Operations at CHRISTUS Trinity Clinics Kathleen Chomel at a one-year anniversary event connected her with the right specialists. Page met with Cardiologist Dr. Michael Benca, who referred her to Electrophysiologist Dr. Gilad Birnbaum.
After a series of tests, Dr. Birnbaum recommended a cardiac ablation, a non-invasive procedure that uses heat or cold to create small scars in the heart to restore a normal rhythm. Although Page felt anxious about the procedure, she says our care team gave her the clarity and confidence she needed.
She praises Clint for helping her prepare for every step of the process and Tasha for her warmth and attentiveness, which turned her experience into a positive one. Within days, Page was back at work. Today, she’s grateful to finally be off her medications and now looks ahead with renewed energy and appreciation for the care that helped her reclaim her health.

Rooted in our Catholic identity and mission, our spiritual care team plays a vital role in nurturing the spirituality of our patients, families, and Associates, meeting each person where they are, regardless of faith background or religious affiliation.
From offering ecumenical prayer services and sacred items to simply being a compassionate presence, our chaplains remind us that every human being has a spiritual nature. Their presence brings joy, strength, and peace even in life’s most challenging moments.
We are grateful for the gentle guidance and support our chaplains provide every day, inspiring hope and healing across our ministries.

When former Texas State head football coach David Bailiff needed health care, he knew exactly where to go.
“ Everyone was so professional, so friendly, and constantly communicating with us. It really took the anxiety away as a parent. If there are six stars, they deserve six. If there are ten, they deserve ten.”
Coach Bailiff has deep ties to San Marcos and says the hospital’s commitment to excellence is clear the moment you walk in. From advanced imaging technology to compassionate and excellent leadership, CHRISTUS Health is proud to be here for our community.

We were honored to be recognized as the official health care provider for State Athletics and the official game sponsor.

As proud partners, we’re committed to supporting the health and wellness of student-athletes across all Texas State programs.

A special thanks to Texas State University President Dr. Kelly Damphousse and Athletic Director Don Coryell for recognizing our team on the field, and to our president Bob Honeycutt for representing us during this exciting moment.
