60 vs 90 Minute Massage: How to Choose & When Your Session Time Begins

Deciding between a 60-minute and a 90-minute massage often depends on your specific needs.
We offer 60, 90, and 120-minute sessions. We do not offer anything shorter than an hour because addressing the body effectively requires time. If you choose a 60-minute session and have significant tension in your upper back, neck, and shoulders, the therapist may need to focus the entire session on those areas to provide relief.
If you have multiple problem areas, a 90-minute session is generally recommended. Since the body is interconnected, the extra time allows for a more comprehensive treatment.
Regarding the timing of your appointment: The clock starts when you are on the massage table, not when you walk in the door. We build buffer time into our schedule for the intake process and cleanup, ensuring your booked time is dedicated entirely to your massage.

For clients new to massage therapy, a very common question is how much clothing they should remove for their appointment.
The answer is that it is entirely up to your comfort level. You may choose to be completely undressed, as professional draping is used the entire time. The therapist will only uncover the specific limb or area of the back they are currently working on, ensuring you remain covered and secure.
If you prefer, you are welcome to keep your underwear on. However, bras generally need to be removed to allow effective work on the back area. While removing underwear can make it easier for the therapist to address the glute area, they can always work around it if you prefer to leave them on. The priority is always your personal comfort.

How to Determine the Right Massage Pressure & When to Speak Up

Determining the right amount of pressure for a massage can be difficult, but you do not have to figure it out alone.
Therapists typically start with lighter pressure and gradually work deeper, checking in with you throughout the session. However, honest communication is vital. If the pressure ever feels too light or too deep, please speak up immediately.
The goal is to work the muscles effectively without causing injury or leaving you feeling bruised. A good rule of thumb is to monitor your body's reaction; if you find yourself tensing up in other areas to withstand the pressure, it defeats the purpose of the massage. Your feedback ensures the therapist can adjust to a firm pressure that is effective without causing acute pain.
