🦷 A huge thank you to Michele Daniels from Dental Associates of Kensington for sharing this valuable testimonial!

This story underscores the crucial role of saliva testing, even when patients exhibit no symptoms. Pathogenic bacteria can be lurking well before any visible signs appear, making early detection essential.

The HR5 test stands as the most sensitive salivary test available, with 100% accuracy (as verified by the SalivaDirect Initiative at Yale School of Public Health). It enables clinicians to identify the 5 high-risk pathogens in their earliest stages, allowing for proactive intervention before gum disease progresses. With HR5 test results, clinicians can personalize treatment protocols based on the specific bacteria present, leading to confident and effective treatment decisions.

Thank you, Michele, for highlighting the importance of thorough saliva testing in delivering proactive and personalized patient care!

The goal of testing is to REDUCE THE RISK for the patient.

Realistic expectations are crucial for saliva testing. While some patients may achieve the goal of reducing high-risk bacteria to zero, it's not always feasible for everyone. There are numerous factors beyond our control, but that shouldn’t deter us from continuing to test and reduce those harmful pathogens.

Testing allows you to mitigate the risk of alveolar bone loss, systemic inflammation, and other long-term chronic diseases. This is a significant achievement, and should be acknowledged as such!

We want you to embrace the process. Although it may not be linear, you are positively impacting your patient’s health by providing the necessary care and keeping them informed about their disease status. Reducing the quantity of these pathogens is already a tremendous success!

There is no “silver bullet” when it comes to periodontal disease! A one-size-fits-all approach simply doesn’t work for gum disease, as each patient’s needs are unique. This is why we need to see and treat each patient as an individual, and the HR5 test can enable you to do just that.

Take women’s health, for example. Each woman is different, with varying hormonal balances at different stages of life. Did you know that the five high-risk pathogens detected by the HR5 test can impact hormone balance? This is particularly crucial for mothers, as a mother’s oral microflora not only affects her own health but also that of her preborn child, and continues to influence her child as long as they live under the same roof.

The HR5 test is the most sensitive and accurate saliva test on the market, providing objective data on the exact presence and composition of the five high-risk bacteria. It detects all known strains of each of these bacteria, giving you the clearest possible view of what is happening in your patient’s mouth. This allows you to craft a personalized treatment plan based on their specific results. No two patients are exactly the same, so why treat them as such?

Today is World Brain Day!

The World Federation of Neurology has dedicated World Brain Day 2024 to focusing on brain health and prevention. Did you know that the health of your mouth can impact your brain health?

A 2023 study by the American Heart Association titled “Poor oral health may contribute to declines in brain health” states that “adults who are genetically prone to poor oral health may be more likely to show signs of declining brain health than those with healthy teeth and gums,” and “early treatment of poor oral health may lead to significant brain health benefits.”

Another article by the Journal of the American Geriatrics Society titled “Periodontal health, cognitive decline, and dementia: A systematic review and meta-analysis of longitudinal studies” states that “poor periodontal health adversely impacts cognition.”

The HR5 test is a crucial tool for identifying the five high-risk pathogens that are associated with inflammation that has been associated with chronic and degenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s. By detecting these pathogens early, the HR5 test enables you to take preventive measures, reducing the risk of disease before symptoms appear. This proactive approach ensures that your patients' oral and systemic health are monitored and maintained at the highest standard.

Start testing today and see how preventive care can make a difference!

Treating pathogens is a journey, not just about eliminating bacteria but also about achieving clinical goals like reducing inflammation and fostering continued oral health.

While a patient responding well to antibiotic treatment is fantastic, maintaining that healthy mouth is the next challenge. Finding a balance between the treatment phase and the recovery/repair phase is crucial. Informing patients about probiotics, prebiotics, and home care gives them the tools to maintain a healthy mouth and create an oral environment that supports their lifestyle.

We must be forward-thinking when treating patients, considering the long-term implications of treatments. Post-testing with the HR5 test allows you to monitor a patient’s oral health over time, ensuring their mouth remains in a healthy state. This approach is more cost-effective for patients and builds trust between patient and clinician, leading to higher patient retention and referrals.

July is Alzheimer’s Awareness Month!

Did you know? The periodontal pathogen Fusobacterium nucleatum (Fn) exacerbates Alzheimer’s pathogenesis.

According to a 2022 study titled "The Periodontal Pathogen Fusobacterium nucleatum Exacerbates Alzheimer's Pathogenesis via Specific Pathways " published by PubMed, "As a periodontal pathogen, F. nucleatum accelerates the development of Alzheimer's Disease. These findings provide a theoretical basis for the study of the relationship between F. nucleatum and AD and lay a preliminary foundation for further exploring the mechanism of F. nucleatum impact on the onset and development of AD."

The HR5 test detects the 5 high-risk pathogens, including Fn, covering all known subspecies at the lowest limit of detection on the market. This allows you to create customized treatment plans for your patients, ensuring that both their oral and systemic health are on the right track. The HR5 test also allows you to take preventive measures with your patients by reducing or eliminating these pathogens before symptoms of diseases like Alzheimer’s appear.

Start testing today and see the impact that the HR5 test can have on your patients, clinicians, and practice!

Whether you typically use antibiotics or not, post-testing is crucial in your patient’s care!

There is literature that supports antibiotic therapy, and there are also studies that highlight that some bacteria are resistant to antibiotics. Each patient is unique, with different bacteria compositions and veracity in their mouths. This is why there will never be a perfect one-size-fits-all approach.

This is where the HR5 Test comes into play. The HR5 Test is the most accurate and affordable saliva test on the market today, allowing you to make informed decisions on patient care based on the objective data provided. Pre-testing with HR5 provides a clear view of the current state of the patient’s mouth to create a personalized treatment plan, while post-testing shows how that treatment is working, revealing if bacteria are more resistant to antibiotics in some patients.
