He realized that little by little, he had let his health slip. But through consistent training, supportive coaching, and a community that keeps him accountable, Spencer has taken his life back.

Now, he’s stronger, healthier, and more confident, not just for today, but for the years ahead. 🙌

FORCE… production & absorption.

Wallball shots is a great movement because it recruits your body to produce and absorb force - which is a great core builder.
1. Force production - there’s an athletic chain of events that must happen in order to get the ball from your hands to your 9 or 10 foot target. Power generated from the legs against the ground transfers to your arms by way of your core’s ability to stay rigid in order for power to flow to your arms, making it efficient. If your core is weak, you suffer from inefficiency and would have to work your arms more than you should have to.
2. Force absorption - Once the ball leaves your hands, there’s a moment where your body relaxes, before the balls comes back down before you catch. At the catch, you must reengage tension throughout your body, especially your core. If your core is weak, the ball will feel very heavy at the arms causing your torso to “crash” and overload your lower back, as well as overloading your legs, making the whole movement more difficult because of inefficiency - aka “shock loading.” Think about cradling the ball on the way down as you catch.
3. Awareness - especially in high repetitions, there’s a constant flow of tension, relaxation, and back to tension when performing the wallball shots to endure those large rep cycles. If you stay tense the whole time, you’ll burn out quickly. And conversely, staying loose at the wrong time will cause issues. In large cycles, break your reps up BEFORE you hit the wall of fatigue - whether it’s cardio or strength. Keeping the sets manageable will allow you to take quick breaks and finish the reps quicker than grabbing large doses and taking longer breaks.

A community’s success hinges on a common trait - reliability. 1. Can members rely on themselves? Showing up for their own goals. 2. Can members rely on each other? Being a good example for newer and older members. 3. Can members rely on their coaches? Being consistent and down to earth with their guidance. 4. Can coaches rely on their members? To be honest and truthful about their journeys. 5. Communication across the board. Being on the same ship, do we all share a common goal of wellness, regardless of individual level? Are we supportive of each other? Are we being open to be coached? Are we all grateful to be where we are today? … so that our progress becomes meaningful, intentional and sustainable?

Beyond skills, strength and experience… is reliability for one another. We are all here for you - whether you’ve just started your journey, have been on this long road, or trying to get back on it. LET’s GO!

For the most part, we get into a weekly and monthly rhythm. Hitting the gym at least 3 days a week, cold plunge every week, or a monthly massage. But what about more on a micro scale? Are you moving AND breathing in sync? Are you inhaling/exhaling at each rep? Are you even aware if you breathe or hold your breath? And you find yourself gasping for air 2min into your workout? If you need help to find your rhythm, reach out to a coach and we’ll get you going on getting your groove back… 💃🏻🕺🏻

Results are contingent on the consistency in different domains of discipline over time - sleep, nutrition, exercise, mental health, emotional maturity, stress management, etc. It doesn’t mean perfection, however. Life is complex and so is the pursuit of its balance. So hold steady and find ways to enjoy the journey.

Like stone workers and wood workers, the fruition of their labor isn’t seen after each stroke of their tool… but over time, day after day of showing up, thousands upon thousands of repetitions. Pursuit each rep with virtuosity.

Is it Tough Mudder season yet? Who’s getting ready for one?

Did you know the crawl is one of the best full-body strength, conditioning, AND mobility exercises you can do? It’s one of the first physical milestones we all achieve as our first mode of transportation - and sets the tone on how we progress to standing and walking. Just because we’re adults now doesn’t mean crawling is “beneath” us. Get down and dirty…

Trust the process. How you start will typically dictate how you finish. Start rushed and sloppy… finish uncontrolled and sloppy. Start strong and confident… finish strong and smooth.

If the movement prescription calls for quick and snappy… appropriately load the bar to stay quick and snappy. Chase a crispy movement PR versus a sloppy “heavy” PR.
