Thank you to everyone who joined us for the Mission Hospice Community and Donor Brunch in the historic courthouse room of the San Mateo County Museum in Redwood City.

We were honored to bring together community and civic leaders, donors, board members, healthcare partners, and advocates for an important conversation about the future of nonprofit hospice care across the Peninsula and South Bay.

Mission Hospice leaders reflected on the organization’s legacy of serving the region and how its merger with By The Bay Health has strengthened Mission's ability to serve the community by expanding services across the continuum of care. Speakers included CEO Skelly Wingard, Senior VP of South Care Anthony Lupian, and Chief Medical Officer Dr. Claritza Rios.

We were especially grateful to welcome Nick Lochrie, field representative for Congressman Kevin Mullin of California’s 15th District, who spoke in support of Mission Hospice and also presented us with a special congressional commemoration recognizing our 45+ years of dedicated service to patients and families across the Peninsula.

Thank you to all who attended and contributed to such a meaningful afternoon. Your partnership and support help ensure that compassionate, high-quality care remains accessible to all who need it.

Today is National Healthcare Decisions Day, an initiative to inspire, educate, and empower the public and healthcare providers about the importance of advance care planning. Research shows that almost 9 out of every 10 people are aware of advance care planning and believe it is important. However, only about 3 out of every 10 people have taken part in the process or completed any advance directives.

Planning ahead is one of the most meaningful gifts you can give to yourself and your loved ones. Taking time to think about your healthcare wishes, choosing a trusted decision-maker, and documenting your preferences can bring clarity and peace of mind during life’s most difficult moments.

At Mission Hospice, we’re here to support individuals and families through these important conversations with compassion and guidance every step of the way.

We’re thrilled to welcome Pamela Galley to the By the Bay Health leadership team!

Pamela brings exceptional experience and a deep commitment to compassionate care. As we continue strengthening our leadership bench, we’re building the vision, expertise, and momentum needed to expand our impact across Northern California.

At By the Bay Health, our focus remains clear: supporting and growing our ability to care for the most vulnerable members of our communities. Pamela’s leadership will help us advance that mission and ensure we continue delivering high-quality, community-based care where it’s needed most.

Please join us in welcoming Pamela to the team!

Today is Giving Tuesday. For more than 45 years, Mission Hospice has provided comfort, dignity, and expert end of life care to our community. Mission House, our hospice house in Redwood City, offers a peaceful, homelike setting for patients who cannot remain at home and who need intensive, round the clock care.

Room and board at Mission House are not covered by Medicare or private insurance. Donor support fills this critical gap and ensures that families in crisis can receive compassionate care.

Your gift makes a direct impact.

June is a time to honor the history, celebrate the progress, and uplift the voices of the LGBTQIA+ community. Pride is more than a celebration—it's a powerful reminder of the courage, love, and resilience that continue to shape a more inclusive world.

At Mission Hospice, we stand in solidarity with LGBTQIA+ individuals in our community and everywhere. We are committed to fostering a culture of equity, dignity, and belonging—not just this month, but every day of the year.

Let’s continue to listen, learn, and advocate for a future where everyone can live with pride.
