Happy Mother’s Day!

It’s a complicated day for many. For those it brings joy and celebration, enjoy! For me, it now brings a lovely day with my family. In the past, I’ve celebrated my moms more. I’ll get to be with them soon!

To those for whom this day brings more complicated feelings… I see you. And I feel for you 💗💕

Happy International Day of the Midwife!

Midwives provide amazing, individualized care (especially those who work outside of the hospital system) with fabulous outcomes. We need more midwives, especially those who are BIPOC.

These photos are of my midwife team during my prenatal care and birth. I am so grateful for , , and 💗 Thank you for supporting me to feel empowered while bringing my sweet Charlotte into the world!

I haven’t attended a birth since May of 2019, and I’m not getting fully back in to doula work, but I have the honor of being a part of a couple of previous clients’ birth teams in the next couple of months! Doulas are considered healthcare workers for the COVID vaccine, and I got my first dose today!! I’m excited to be one step closer to a more normal world. And I am so excited to be able to support a couple of really wonderful families 💗

The Seven Day Sweater

This one was a bit quicker than the last I posted 😉 I completely jumped on the pattern when I saw .knits post about her Nanaimo Cardigan. The pattern is by and I immediately fell in love with all of her patterns when looking at her Instagram posts 💗 I’m all about the chunky, cozy sweaters! And to have all of her pattern names be the names of Canadian cities? 💗🇨🇦💗
If only I could get my hands on some Nanaimo Bars! 😋

In March of 2013, I started The Gate Pullover, a pattern I found in an actual printed knitting magazine back in 2012 😆 I put it down for a few reasons- I found the pattern challenging, and then it had just been too long. I never unraveled it, thinking I might pick it back up one day.

Earlier this year, wanting to challenge myself creatively (and inspired by following .knits ), I finally decided to pick it up. I debated starting over, but just decided to figure it out from where it was. I messed up so many times, had to tink (= knit backwards) a LOT. I misread the pattern multiple times 🤦🏼‍♀️ But I persevered and figured it out. I finished knitting in May, but finally blocked it this last week.

If only I had finished it by my birthday! The designer, Margaux Hufnagel, , and I share the same one: 10/10. Alas, I got to wear it on my hubby’s birthday this week 😊

In the time between starting and finishing this sweater, I met my husband, attended over 150 births as a doula, and birthed my own baby.

And I’m back in full knitting-obsessed mode, which I love! 🧶 💗 It’s so nice to be doing something for me, which doesn’t always happen as the mama of a toddler. What are you doing for YOU?

40 weeks in... and 40 weeks out!

So crazy to think that fewer than 12 hours after the first photo was taken, she was in my arms!

Charlotte is such a wonderful treat, and she’s getting to be more and more fun every day. 💗💗 @ San Mateo, California

Happy Valentines Day! My husband and I have accidentally created a tradition of being away from each other on this holiday. This is our third year being married, and he’s been away for each of them 🤣 While I love being with him, it doesn’t bother me at all. He’s on a once-in-a-lifetime trip that I have no interest in (a photography trip above the arctic circle in February 🥶). So I’m hanging with my newest Valentine and my bestie who came into town for the weekend! 💗

Do you go traditional or alternative for V-day? Any traditions? @ Crissy Field

My sweet Charlotte is six months old!

Of course, I’m thinking about the night she was born and can’t believe it’s been a half of a year since then. I’m so grateful for my birth team, including my midwife Michelle , student midwife Kate , doula Nicole , and photographer Kim . Today, I even got to see our amazing postpartum doula, Nora ! And of course, my wonderful husband James 💗
