In March of 2013, I started The Gate Pullover, a pattern I found in an actual printed knitting magazine back in 2012 😆 I put it down for a few reasons- I found the pattern challenging, and then it had just been too long. I never unraveled it, thinking I might pick it back up one day.
Earlier this year, wanting to challenge myself creatively (and inspired by following .knits ), I finally decided to pick it up. I debated starting over, but just decided to figure it out from where it was. I messed up so many times, had to tink (= knit backwards) a LOT. I misread the pattern multiple times 🤦🏼♀️ But I persevered and figured it out. I finished knitting in May, but finally blocked it this last week.
If only I had finished it by my birthday! The designer, Margaux Hufnagel, , and I share the same one: 10/10. Alas, I got to wear it on my hubby’s birthday this week 😊
In the time between starting and finishing this sweater, I met my husband, attended over 150 births as a doula, and birthed my own baby.
And I’m back in full knitting-obsessed mode, which I love! 🧶 💗 It’s so nice to be doing something for me, which doesn’t always happen as the mama of a toddler. What are you doing for YOU?
