Colleen Arnold, PhD, MFT

Colleen Arnold, PhD, MFT Psychotherapist in San Mateo, CA Welcome! I specialize in working with women (late teens on up) struggling with depression and anxiety.

I enjoy helping women dream of and build a life that fits with their values. I also do one-to-one life coaching with women of all ages, especially women re-entering the work-force after having children or trying to achieve work-life balance. I have two children and know how hard it can be to feel like you're functioning in all areas. I help women figure out how to shape their lives so they can live what I call a "Full-Color Life!"

Self-care is actually super-hard, especially when you don't have enough energy to function. But if you can muster up the herculean effort it takes, you really will be better off in the long run.

"I thought I was doing this self-care thing the right way until... it became obvious I was not."

I saw this on a friend's feed today and had to grab it. So simple, but so well said. Feminism supports women, of course, but it also supports men. Feminism fights against the ideas that men shouldn't display traditionally "feminine" characteristics, like tears, sensitivity, etc. eliza-lou-riley: Boys, protect girls. Call people out when they make offensive jokes. Stand up to those who treat girls like objects. [ 163 more words. ]

Powerful slam poetry trying to describe what it's like. I've met a few people who do (sort of) default to depression, but most of us fight it, and it takes so much energy when you're in that place to fight it off.

Sabrina Benaim's “Explaining My Depression to My Mother" is pretty powerful.
