Human Needs Project

Human Needs Project We builds sustainable "community/utility centers" in urban slums around the world. We believe complex problems require complex solutions.

Simply providing a water hole with a pump does not even start to solve some of the basic problems slum dwellers face. Many such water programs have been created with some to little success, and many water kiosks are already available in slums like Kibera where we are in the process of setting up our pilot project, though the quality and source of that water is in no way guaranteed. Aid projects in

Kibera have often shown little progress in achieving real improvement in people's lives. Water alone, will not succeed in creating real change in the lives of slum dwellers around the world. A group of services combined to innovate, educate and energize the local population will provide a dynamic tool for populations to create new lives for themselves. New Clean Technology will provide cheap and reliable energy to power the Community Center, where Public Baths, Clean Drinking Water, Public Lavatories, Information programs, The Green Marketplace for slum upgrade, Adult Learning Center, Micro Loans Office and a Business Center will provide tools for the population to better their own lives. With Water at its center, and with Clean Technology as its dynamo, - the HNP Community Center aims to provide public services where none exist, while spreading Clean Technology know-how by educating and training the local population in its use, - in turn creating real, cutting-edge new and useful job skills among the urban poor.

Last week, our team held a special event - the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of a Water Bottling Plant. This ceremony marks the beginning of an exciting journey towards improving the lives of the people in Kibera. The bottling plant will utilize our sophisticated and world-leading nano-filtration system located at the Kibera Town Centre, to provide the community with pristine quality .

We are thrilled about this initiative and eager to keep you updated on our progress! Your support for our work is invaluable, and we encourage you to contribute to this cause by visiting our website at https://www.humanneedsproject.org/donate

Despite some progress over the last decade, access to clean remains a big challenge for many people worldwide, particularly for those living in informal settlements. These individuals spend a substantial portion of each day fetching water โ€” time that could be spent on or earning wages โ€” and the burden of this often falls disproportionately on women and girls.

โ€œJust imagine: 200 million hours is 8.3 million days, or over 22,800 years. It would be as if a woman started with her empty bucket in the Stone Age and didnโ€™t arrive home with water until 2016. Think how much the world has advanced in that time. Think how much could have achieved in that time.โ€ Sanjay Wijesekera, UNICEF Global Head of Water, Sanitation and Hygiene
