One of my most favorite group art projects from one of my most favorite jobs of all time. I made this poster-sized holiday tree in 2013 with kids from an after school program that was created to uniquely meet the needs of the community that it operated in. I believe that the support and encouragement that this program offered was as successful as it was because of the way that it honored the sweetness and genuine nature of each child who came through it’s doors. And I cherish this picture so much, because I think it gives a glimpse at the power of community and interconnectedness. ❤️

Happy World Mental Health Day! What a perfect opportunity to remind each other that all emotions are valid, kindness is essential, and that consistent and thorough community supports are essential in developing and maintaining healthy social-emotional skills.
