My sister finds me deeply annoying (you know the HSP and not HSP thing.) We are spending more time interacting while I’m in Oklahoma supporting my dad in the hospital.

The other day I texted her a brilliant suggestion that I figured out the day before. She said she’s been doing it already and added 🤪, I texted her back. I just thought of it 🤣

Can you relate? Are you always thinking and figuring things out? And maybe making suggestions about what you figured out? You have high empathy and really just want to help others, right?

But all those great ideas... not everyone appreciates them! WHY?
Because we have two different strategies for how our brains work.

We can’t change our brains and you should not want to. You have a beautifully thoughtful and reactive brain. It leads you to wisdom and empathy, but…You might be tired of all the thinking and deciding. Sometimes it feels like you can’t catch a break and the perfect day or perfect week feels too overwhelming.

Come and join me for a live webinar where we’ll explore the new Highly Sensitive Person (HSP) self-test.

Please share all these details with your doctor. It’s really important that we are able to communicate with them. We recommend language like “I’m sure you’ve noticed that some patients have much stronger reactions to treatment and illness. I’m one of those. I’m having these (list) reactions. Is there a way to buffer them or help me?

If we think we are just overly sensitive, we are less likely to advocate for ourselves.

Come and join us on July 13th for our HSP Tools and Topics. Our opening theme on Sunday is Dental Phobia/Prep/Recovery. Bring your questions or scenarios to get support. Register here: https://areyouhighlysensitive.thrivecart.com/july-13-ayhs-office-hours/

You can do everything you need to do in your life and work. Did you know that? However, you may have to reassess your needs. I promise you need more time off, more self-care, more exercise, more meditation, more walks in nature, more breathwork, and above all, more time alone.

“How?” you ask. “How do I fit it all in?” I want to assure you that if you can’t fit it in–if you really can’t–something has to give. Many times in my life, I have become ill or injured and been forced to take a step back. Will you wait for that?

Highly sensitive people are some of the most focused people in the world—and some of the highest achieving. If you aren’t experiencing life like that, please reach out. I’d love to support you. 💙

Come and join me for a retreat designed for your sensitive, powerful self. Together, we’ll cleanse, clarify, and create a life that fits. For HSPs who are ready to rest deeply and rise gently.

So... what now?
Here’s the thing: July 2 isn’t going to show up on your Google Calendar with a reminder. No one’s giving you the day off work. There are no sales, no parades, no fireworks. But that’s what makes it cool.

It’s quiet. Optional. Yours.

And it might just be the perfect day to take a breath, regroup, and reimagine the rest of the year.

So whether you’re killing it in 2025 or still trying to get your groove, remember this:

The year’s not over. You’ve got 182 more days to try again, try differently, or just try something fun. And that’s worth celebrating-even if it’s just with a cold drink, a high-five to yourself, or a silly post saying
“Happy Halfway Day!”

Happy Halfway Day. 💙

I’m discouraged I have to work at JOY. Why isn’t it easy?

Well, that’s because I’m highly sensitive. As you may have heard.

And that means my brain is processing and reacting more and it engages more with the world around me.

How about yours?

Let’s talk about it. Come and join us in our office hours, June 26th at 10:30am Eastern.

I’m enjoying these long days of summer. The evening walk is the highlight for me. But if you are parenting, I bet you are about ready for the days to get shorter by now!

Embrace and be intentional about the holiday. Allow your heart, mind and body to know that this is it... the apex of the lengthening days. Be a sun worshiper (safely) and lover of light. Acknowledge the sun, the long days, and the change that will come as the days become shorter. What will you manifest with all this light that is both literal and figurative?

I hope your summer is off to a gentle beginning... Remember, take care of you. 💙

Highly Sensitive People thrive best with knowledge and community. We support each other and design lives compatible with our sensitivity. When we're successful, overwhelm is manageable and anxiety is rare. Imagine a life thriving with your gifts as a sensitive, finely-tuned, thinker-feeler-noticer.

Today’s dads tend to be different, too soft or gentle sometimes. Or sometimes too traditional. They might struggle to find just the right balance for their sensitive children. And a highly sensitive dad can be especially challenged by parenting.

Everyone is welcome on our next AYHS office hours this Sunday, and it’s the perfect time to talk about the dads (who are invited to come for free—or join half off. Comment DAD for the link.) Maybe you are a dad and could use some support. Or you know a dad you would like to ask about.

Conventional wisdom about sleep isn’t quite enough for HSPs. Traditional interventions often don’t work.

💤 We might feel claustrophobic and ultra sensitive to some sleep interventions. (CPap, mouth taping, medications, for example)

💤 Sleep is more relevant and more important for us, so the pronouncement of “not enough sleep” might not come soon enough.

💤 “Not enough sleep” can have more serious implications for HSPs.

Let’s take the traditional knowledge, advice, and interventions and tip them sideways (not upside down) so they fit our unique brains and our unique HSP lives.
