My dear sensitive ones, I decided to share this with you because we need the message. Notice that the first 3 are about YOU. The fourth statement gives you permission to do what you do best - offer compassion to others.

Let’s focus on the unique challenge for highly empathic people: Putting on your oxygen mask first.

May you offer your Self (including your vulnerable and young inner selves) love, worthiness, and compassion. When you can see it, and when you believe it, you will be it. When you love yourself, sense your worthiness and hold yourself in compassion, then you are fit to look out to others.

For highly empathic sensitive people (HSPs), it is easier to focus on others than on ourselves.

Please act more compassionately and lovingly toward your Self… You need it and you deserve it. 💙

HSP How To: Are there physical conditions or ailments that HSP’s are more prone to due to the build up of chemicals in the body when overwhelmed?

No easy answers my friends, but how about a brainstorm? HOW DO YOU DETOX?

HSPs- YES! And here is my advice. If you feel like you are impacted by the chemicals in your life and in your body, you probably are.

Don’t hesitate to take care of yourself in relation to that.

How? I can’t tell you specifically, and not everyone can do everything, but here are a few ideas:

Remove yourself from the chemicals. Some products I use: Berkey Water Filters, scent free and chemical free body care and laundry and cleaning products, Saladmaster cookware! But it goes so much more deeply.

DETOX: whatever that means to you. Your holistic medical professional can guide you.

But, detox also happens through sweat and urination, so exercise more and drink more clean water–while serious chemical issues won’t be cured that easily, everyone will feel better if they improve on these two simple (not always easy) do-it-yourself detox tools.

You are thoughtful and helpful, but people find your advice annoying and controlling. HSPs are emotional leaders but finesse is the key to success.

Sensory Processing Sensitivity — the trait of highly sensitive people is innate.
This means we were born with it. It is always present. But… maybe you find yourself more sensitive or newly highly sensitive. It could mean that you don’t actually have the HSP brain.

Trauma can create a strong sensitivity to your environment, for example.

OR maybe you always were highly sensitive but in your childhood it was honored and not a problem!

Then… something happened that created stress, and p**f, your sensitive brain isn’t okay anymore. NOW you feel highly sensitive. The why doesn’t matter.

If you are sensitive for any reason, your brain needs you to design a life that takes care of YOU. 💙

I invite you to join our office hours tomorrow, August 19th Noon US Eastern time. If you sign up, you will also receive a webinar on Parenting with Differential Susceptibility.

Together we will reframe childhood and transform the lives of the kids we know.

Welcome to HSP Differential Susceptibility Month: August 💜

Differential Susceptibility (DS) means that our highly sensitive, more reactive brains and nervous systems are more responsive to outer influences and environments than others.

DS means we can heal better, respond more, and improve a ton–more than people who are not highly sensitive.

DS means we are more likely to be impacted by and suffer in poor environments.

DS also means we are especially gifted to heal past wounds, reframe our childhoods, and use our trauma survival to make ourselves ANTIfragile!

Differential Susceptibility is a gift. While the bad things are worse for us, the good things are even more strongly better for HSPs.

Put on your DS glasses and LIVE YOUR POTENTIAL. 💙

Sensitive Men Rising, featuring Peter Coyote, Alanis Morissette, Luke Goss, Dr. Elaine Aron, and Scott Barry Kaufman, debuted to acclaim on Father's Day 2024.…

Differential Susceptibility means highly sensitive people are differently “susceptible” to our environments.

Since we have more reactive brains, we are deeply processing everything in our environment from people to sensory input to emotions. All that processing (thinking and feeling) impacts highly sensitive people more than those without the trait.

The key is that we are strongly impacted by both the good and the bad, so it’s really important that we protect our environment so we get lots of GOOD things in our environment. 💙

Anxiety is the August Hot Topic.
Why do HSPs & sensitive youth deal with anxiety? Don’t let it get you down. Usually it’s overwhelm because of the stressful situation, or heck, a stressful life. You probably make it worse by feeling bad for feeling stressed and overwhelmed.

When you start speaking to yourself more gently and kindly about your stress and overwhelm, it’s far less likely to explode into anxiety.

That is because of differential susceptibility: HSPs of any age, from the baby to the elder and all in between, YOU are very impacted by your situations & environments— Way More than other people.

That means the stress will take you down so much faster and harder. But it also means
~ training your brain
~ organizing your life
~ inner compassion
are the tools that will make you susceptible to the good stuff.

Bring your brain to school. A little training, taken to heart, can change the game of life for a sensitive person.

Come and join us this Friday, August 1st for HSP Tools and Topics to kickstart Differential Susceptibility Month. Register here: https://areyouhighlysensitive.thrivecart.com/one-meeting-hsp-tools-topics-aug1/

My sister finds me deeply annoying (you know the HSP and not HSP thing.) We are spending more time interacting while I’m in Oklahoma supporting my dad in the hospital.

The other day I texted her a brilliant suggestion that I figured out the day before. She said she’s been doing it already and added 🤪, I texted her back. I just thought of it 🤣

Can you relate? Are you always thinking and figuring things out? And maybe making suggestions about what you figured out? You have high empathy and really just want to help others, right?

But all those great ideas... not everyone appreciates them! WHY?
Because we have two different strategies for how our brains work.

We can’t change our brains and you should not want to. You have a beautifully thoughtful and reactive brain. It leads you to wisdom and empathy, but…You might be tired of all the thinking and deciding. Sometimes it feels like you can’t catch a break and the perfect day or perfect week feels too overwhelming.

Come and join me for a live webinar where we’ll explore the new Highly Sensitive Person (HSP) self-test.
