Neurodiversity-affirming care means recognizing that differences in communication, behavior, and learning are natural variations of the human experience. 🔗

At Link Therapies, we value strengths-based goals, consent and collaboration, sensory-aware practices, and presuming competence in every learner.

We’re proud to provide therapy that uplifts our clients and supports who they are. 🩵

🍁 AAC Word of the Week: STOP!

This powerful little word can do so much!
Clients can use STOP to pause a game, stop a song, stop an activity, stop a feeling, or tell someone “stop please.”
Model it all week long during play, routines, and transitions! ✋🧡

AAC Word of the Week: GO 🟩

✨ “Go” is such a powerful word for communication!
Here are a few natural ways to model it:
➡️ “Go play!”
➡️ “Let’s go outside.”
➡️ “Car go fast.”
➡️ “Go to school.”
➡️ “Go swing!”

💡 Modeling “GO” in real-life, motivating situations helps learners see how the word works and how to use it without pressure.

🌟 Every child learns in their own unique way!

Some kids may be rote learners, others may be gestalt, visual, hands-on, or auditory learners—and many children are actually a combination of these styles. For example, your child might be both a gestalt learner and an auditory learner, or a hands-on and visual learner.

💡 Understanding how your child learns best can help us build on their strengths while supporting new skills in fun, meaningful ways.

✨ Remember: there’s no “one right way” to learn—every learning style is valuable!

🏀 Working on speech goals can be fun!
Our therapists love finding playful ways to build communication skills — like turning practice into a game and shooting for success, as pictured in one of Miss Allie’s speech sessions! 🗣️

💬 “He just doesn’t want to communicate.”
We hear this a lot. But here’s the truth:

Communication is inherently motivating.
It’s not like math or chores—it’s something we’re wired to do from birth. Babies coo. Toddlers point. Kids laugh and share—because humans are made to connect.

If a child isn’t talking or using AAC, it’s not because they’re lazy or stubborn. It’s because:

✅ They haven’t found a method that works reliably
✅ They need more modeling and support
✅ They don’t feel successful yet

Let’s make communication meaningful, joyful, and empowering.

✨ Connection first. Words will follow.

🌟 AAC Word of the Week: WANT 🌟
This week we’re focusing on the word “want”—a super important word that helps kids ask for things and make choices! 💬

Try using it at home during everyday moments:
🧃 “Do you want juice?”
🎮 “I want to play!”
☀️ “Want to go outside?”

The more we model it, the more our kids learn to use it! 🧡
