It’s World Menopause Day ! It takes a village to manage and I am grateful for the opportunity to watch last night and educating women on Pelvic Floor Health as the on the Q& A panel.
Shout out to the amazing group of women who are moving the needle forward for Women’s Health! 🌎 .csa Dr Bettina Z for contributing to the Q&A panel and for producing the eye opening film 🙏
Perimenopause can start as early as your late 30’s and extend for a VERY long time (10 years +|-) . There are brain 🧠 and cognitive changes as well as bone 🦴 and muscle 💪 loss. Cardiovascular 🫀 decline , among many other issues. My primary symptom is/was disturbed sleep. I still have my period regularly, but the changes are undoubtedly there. Luckily, I have been lifting weights 🏋️♀️ all my life and have incorporated jump training and plyometrics over the past 5-10 years. But many women are just starting this journey and may experience pelvic floor symptoms like leaking p*e 💦 when they try to jump, run, CrossFit or lift heavy. That’s where pelvic PT can really help so you don’t have to live with it!
The thing is that it can take a long time to feel those effects & before you know it- all of a sudden, you’re diagnosed with osteopenia or osteoporosis or throw your back out just lifting groceries 😬
