John Strong, Associate Professor of Physical Education Studies at SUNY Niagara, was recently featured on Community Forum Show with host Marion Hannigan.

In this two-part conversation, John joins Dr. Vermette to discuss his upcoming book, Change on Purpose, set to be released this fall. Together, they explore the inspiration behind the book, who it’s meant for, and how its message can be applied to everyday life.

🎓🔪 Surgical Technology Class of 2026 – HR Information Day Success! 🔪🎓

Our Surgical Technology (ST) students had an incredible opportunity to connect with healthcare leaders during our annual HR Information Day!

We were excited to welcome James Reiter, MSN, RN, CST, Surgical Services Manager at Kaleida Health System and a proud 2008 graduate of our Surgical Technology program! James shared valuable insights about Kaleida Health and the many Surgical Technology opportunities available within their system.

We also had the pleasure of hosting representatives from Catholic Health System, Bill Eagan and Brenton Wood, CST (Class of 2016)! Brenton’s journey from hospital transport to CST and now HR is truly inspiring. Together, they provided an overview of Catholic Health System, discussed current job openings, and highlighted exciting sign-on bonus opportunities.

👏 Our Class of 2026 cohort is already making moves actively applying and interviewing for Surgical Technology positions!

Thank you to our guest speakers for investing in our students’ futures. It was a fantastic day filled with insight, inspiration, and opportunity!

Our Student Nurses Association recently hosted an engaging and informative session featuring our own Nursing Lab Instructor, Tempresst Ravenell!

Tempresst shared valuable insights about the Buffalo Black Nurses Association, highlighting its mission, impact, and the importance of representation, mentorship, and professional support within the nursing field. Students had a wonderful opportunity to learn about ways to get involved, grow their networks, and make a difference in their communities.

Our Radiologic Technology (Rad Tech) Club had an amazing night out playing laser tag! 🎯

This fun-filled social event brought together both students and faculty for an evening of teamwork, laughter, and a little friendly competition. Opportunities like this help strengthen connections outside the classroom and build the sense of community that makes our Nursing & Allied Health programs so special.

📍 Clinical Teaching Opportunities:

Fundamentals (NUR 111) – 6.5-hour clinical (LTC setting)
Ortho/Neuro (NUR 211) – 12.5-hour clinical (Hospital setting)
Pediatrics, Maternity & Medical-Surgical (lower level)
🕒 Flexible Weekly Schedule (1 day/week):

6-hour or 12-hour clinical shifts
Days available: Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, or Sunday
💰 Compensation:

$860 per lab hour
Earn $5,160 (6-hour rotation) or $10,320 (12-hour rotation) per semester
🎓 What We Offer:

🌸💌 Spreading Kindness One Flower at a Time 💌🌸

In February, our Student Nurses Association hosted a wonderful Valentine’s Day Flower Sale and Card-Making Station, bringing smiles and a little extra joy to campus! 💖

Students, faculty, and staff had the opportunity to purchase flowers for loved ones and create heartfelt, handmade cards—reminding us all of the importance of compassion, connection, and community. 🌷

🎓✨ Today was an exciting day at SUNY Niagara as we welcomed over 200 high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors to campus for our annual College & Career Information (CCI) Day!

Students filled the Theatre, Gym, and Dining Commons to learn more about academic programs, explore career pathways, and experience what college life is all about. We are especially proud that the College of Nursing, Physical & Allied Health was so well represented throughout the event!

From Nursing and Surgical Technology to Massage Therapy, Radiologic Technology, and more, our faculty and staff had the opportunity to connect with future healthcare professionals, answer questions, and showcase the hands-on learning experiences that prepare our students for in-demand careers.

SUNY Niagara’s Radiologic Technology (Rad Tech) AAS program was awarded Cummings Foundation funds, totaling $58,620 to update and modernize the lab facilities for one of the largest and most in demand programs at the College.

The purchase of a new Laboratory X-Ray Machine will better prepare students for clinical rotations and employment by training them on equipment that mirrors the advanced technology used in the field.
