For some moms, breastfeeding comes naturally. For some dads, supporting a breastfeeding mother comes naturally. For most, this is a learned process that is easier with education. At 8 weeks postpartum the rate of babies who are exclusively breastfed by mothers who also have dad's support is 78% vs 33% with no support from dad. Dads make a huge difference! Support will look different for every family. In my free breastfeeding class we take time to discuss meaningful ways that expecting moms and dads can prepare for the postpartum time. You can register at Sandpointlactation.com/breastfeeding-class-registration . I'll be sharing more posts soon on this topic. For now, I want to hear from moms and dads: what kind of support was helpful for you or what are ways that you found to be supportive?
