The Science of Grief: Understanding the Neurology and Physiology of Loss

Grief is not just an emotion; it’s a whole-body experience. When we lose someone or something deeply meaningful, our nervous system, hormones, and even our brain circuitry are profoundly impacted.

Whether you’re navigating personal loss, supporting others in grief, or simply curious about how the body heals, this space is for you. Join us for a 3-day workshop exploring what’s really happening inside the brain and body during grief, and how we can support the mind and body in moving through it with gentleness, curiosity, and care.

🧠 You’ll learn:
✨ The science behind grief and the stress response
✨ How loss changes the brain and nervous system
✨ Why certain emotions or physical symptoms arise
✨ Practical tools to regulate, ground, and restore balance

This workshop blends neuroscience, psychology, and somatic awareness to help you understand your experience — or the experiences of those you support — from both a scientific and compassionate lens.

📅 Dates: Thursdays, November 6th, 13th, 20th
⏰ Time: 5:30-7:30 PM
📍 Location: First floor of the HSB building (kitty-corner to the hospital, attached via skybridge) in the Monarch Room
💫 Cost: FREE

👉 Register by emailing Stephanie.Ray@bonnergeneral.org
