Oh this?

This is the chaos and organization of printing, cutting, laminating, cutting again, and sorting about 300 cards for a particular type of speech program called the Cycles Approach.

This approach is great for kids who are highly unintelligible (very hard to understand), typically having extensive errors and identifiable patterns to their errors.

Now for the storage and labeling of all these!

I love supporting fellow SLPs who create quality materials.

What if we focused on prevention… not just management? 🤔

When it comes to children, the signs of future airway and sleep issues often show up early—we just have to know what to look for.

🚩 Red flags parents and healthcare providers shouldn’t ignore:
• Mouth breathing
• Noisy breathing (day or night)
• Snoring or disrupted sleep
• Bruxism (dental wear/grinding)
• Narrow palate
• Enlarged tonsils
• Behavioral changes (irritability, focus issues)
• Tongue tie
• Mentalis strain (chin dimpling when closing lips)

These aren’t just “phases”—they can impact growth, development, and sleep quality over time.

Early intervention = better breathing, better sleep, better outcomes.

If something feels off, it’s worth looking into early. Awareness is the first step.

Spokane Disability Pop Up for April! This is a great resource to get questions answered and to help parents navigate what feels like a complicated system sometimes! Dr. Barrett recently used this pop up resource for her son Benny and found it extremely helpful!

Hello hello!
My name is Kristi and I’m a speech-language pathologist in beautiful north Idaho.

I own a one girl show called North Idaho Speech and Myo in Sandpoint, where I have a lot of fun seeing kids of various ages for speech therapy, stuttering therapy, and myofunctional therapy, and identification of tethered oral tissues.

I’m very excited to announce that I now offer feeding therapy for birth through age 21, covering a wide range of needs. If your child has difficulties or concerns similar to these examples, I’d love to schedule a free consult call to see if I’m a good fit for your family.

-newborns and babies who have trouble latching and transferring milk

-babies or children who are extremely sensitive about anything going unit or near their mouths

-babies who have open mouths all the time, or show other signs of oral muscles not developing properly

-difficulty starting or progressing through solids

-a child does not chew much or cannot chew more difficult textures (as appropriate for their age and skills)

-toddlers and older who show extreme food aversions, picky eating, or are highly particular about the foods they eat, resulting in very limited food choices

-mealtimes are long and drawn out, not enjoyable for the child and/or family

-child cannot eat neatly, food may fall from the mouth

-child is not growing due to limited food consumption

I would be happy to be part of your family’s journey to more successful eating—see my contact info in my bio! 🍽️

Great news!
Feeding services are now offered for all ages of pediatrics at my office!

Infants and babies who have difficulty latching, transferring milk, completing feeds

Older babies who are having a hard time starting solids or making progress

Toddlers who haven’t mastered developmentally appropriate skills for chewing and swallowing

Kids of any age who are orally defensive, have a limited number of foods, only eat one texture/color/flavor, gag, have unsuccessful mealtimes

❤️ 🍽️ …combining my love of working with families and kids, identifying what oral skills need work, my personal experiences with breastfeeding babies with tongue ties and the expertise I’ve developed since then!

I work by establishing trust with the child first, incorporating fun, and being on this journey with your family.

If you’d like to schedule a free consult call to see if this is a good fit for you, call or text me at 208-717-1853 📞

All important things for good beginnings!

All important things for good beginnings!

Small daily habits can make a big difference in your child’s oral development.

âś” Decrease pacifier use around 6 months, limiting it to sleep only
âś” Eliminate bottles by 12 months
âś” Skip the sippy cup and introduce open cups or straw cups
âś” Offer foods that require more chewing to support oral strength
âś” Practice good nasal hygiene to encourage nasal breathing
âś” Eliminate pacifier use completely by 12 months

These simple shifts help support healthy jaw growth, breathing patterns, and feeding skills right from the start.

Early awareness matters, and small changes at home can have a lasting impact.

One step closer to offering infant and toddler services for feeding and oral motor development!!

This course was AMAZING and I am SO excited to help parents with their little one's feeding journey, starting in February 2026!!!

If you've ever thought your 0-4 year old needs myofunctional therapy, skilled/professional guidance for developing feeding skills--whether breastfeeding latch, bottle feeding, tethered oral tissues, starting solids--or oral motor skills like allowing safe items into their mouth or getting started on chewing/swallowing skills, this service area is for you!

I can't wait to be part of your child's journey to optimal oral health and growth 🤩🥳
