Looking forward to a new year of meeting more fantastic folks!

Feeding therapy for ages 0+ will be offered starting February! 🥳 Babies, toddlers, kids of all ages!

—What does a feeding therapist do?—

Skilled feeding therapists examine the underlying cause of the feeding problem (e.g., sensory, motor, behavioral, medical etc,) and determine a comprehensive treatment plan based on those findings. The therapist will demonstrate evidence-based therapy approaches during sessions and provide parent/caregiver training to improve the child’s feeding. Family members are expected to be active participants in feeding therapy in order to promote progress.

—What exactly is ‘feeding therapy’?—

Skilled feeding therapy is a hands-on, individualized and comprehensive treatment of feeding difficulties in order to achieve the family’s goals (e.g., smoother mealtimes, decreased refusal behaviors, increased diet repertoire, improved chewing etc.). Skilled feeding intervention can result in positive long-term outcomes for your child’s relationship with food, their growth and reduce family stress related to feeding difficulties.

With babies, we work on pre-feeding skills like lip closure, jaw strength and mobility, tongue movement for feeding, and decreasing oral sensitivity among other goals. This can apply to breastfeeding infants, bottle feeding infants, babies transitioning to solids learning to use their hands, utensils, cups, and straws. This can also apply to any age after toddlerhood to teach skills or help transition to the next skill when a child is not engaging appropriate feeding skills for their age.

One step closer to offering infant and toddler services for feeding and oral motor development!!

This course was AMAZING and I am SO excited to help parents with their little one's feeding journey, starting in February 2026!!!

If you've ever thought your 0-4 year old needs myofunctional therapy, skilled/professional guidance for developing feeding skills--whether breastfeeding latch, bottle feeding, tethered oral tissues, starting solids--or oral motor skills like allowing safe items into their mouth or getting started on chewing/swallowing skills, this service area is for you!

I can't wait to be part of your child's journey to optimal oral health and growth 🤩🥳

How was your Thanksgiving?! 🦃
I ate mashed potatoes, ham, gluten free rolls, and veggies to my heart’s content! 🍽️

And now we get snow?! What a start to December, woohoo! ❄️

December is full for new client evaluations, but if you’re thinking about getting yourself or your child in for a speech or myofunctional evaluation after the new year it’s a great time to have a free consultation call and get started on the paperwork, which needs to be completed before we schedule.

Stay safe on the roads and happy holidays!

With the days getting dreary around here I needed to add some spice to the week. Hence, I will now be doing “Fun eye Fridays” 👀

Some families may have been surprised by the bright blue eyeliner I sported today 😂 but it won’t be the last time!

Even when I identify a tie, I always work with the client to establish best function before the release 🤩

Even when I identify a tie, I always work with the client to establish best function before the release 🤩

The #1 mistake new therapists make when treating oral ties is focusing only on the tether — and not the function.

Here’s the problem: A release alone doesn’t normalize oral function. It simply creates the opportunity for better movement. Without retraining the tongue, lips, jaw, and airway patterns, old compensations remain and new issues often appear.

Why this matters:

• Babies and children may continue to struggle with feeding or speech even after release.
• Muscle patterns don’t automatically change just because the restriction is gone.
• Therapy is what builds new, functional movement patterns that last.

What should happen instead:

• Pre-release prep to build strength, coordination, and tolerance.
• Post-release therapy focused on mobility, oral rest posture, and functional integration.
• Collaboration with release providers to support full recovery and long-term outcomes.

Releases open the door. Therapy gets them through it.
