I founded this practice in 2024 with a clear vision: to foster a community where individuals experience sustainable mental wellness, renewed purpose, and the confidence to live fully and independently. Recognizing that many underserved members of our community lacked access to comprehensive psychiatric care, I set out to create a practice that bridges that gap.

My approach centers on treating the whole person. In addition to thoughtful, individualized medication management, I integrate psychotherapy, lifestyle support, and education around nutrition, exercise, sleep, and the mental health benefits of enjoying the incredible outdoors our community has to offer. My goal is to provide compassionate, comprehensive mental health care that reflects the values and spirit of the community we serve.

Your brain changes itself when you focus on positive moments

Scientists highlighted a powerful truth about the human brain. When you consistently focus on positive experiences, your brain begins to rewire itself to notice more of them. This process is called neuroplasticity, the brain’s ability to reshape its connections based on what you think, feel, and repeat over time.

Every thought you have strengthens certain neural pathways. When attention stays on stress, fear, or negativity, those pathways grow stronger. But when you consciously shift focus toward gratitude, progress, or small wins, different pathways begin to expand. Over time, your brain becomes more efficient at spotting positive patterns in everyday life.

For years, people believed personality and mindset were mostly fixed. This research challenges that idea. It shows that your mental habits are not permanent. They can be trained and reshaped, much like building muscle through repeated effort. Simple practices like writing down 3 good things each day or reflecting on moments of progress can slowly change how your brain responds to the world.

The impact goes beyond mood. Strengthening positive neural pathways has been linked to reduced stress, improved emotional resilience, and better overall mental health. It can influence relationships, productivity, and even physical well being.

Are you feeling bored, sadness, or dread? Consider performing a random act of kindness, spending time outside, or sending a supportive message to a friend. Helping others or donating to a local shelter can also have a positive impact. Research has shown that taking a walk outside can improve mood and increase productivity. Have a great day!

Today we’re celebrating 2 years of Alliance Psychiatric Wellness, PLLC serving Sandpoint and the surrounding communities.

Since opening our doors on February 20, 2024, it has been a privilege to provide thoughtful, comprehensive psychiatric care to adults in our community.

At Alliance Psychiatric Wellness, our focus has always been on diagnostic clarity, collaborative care, and conservative, evidence-informed prescribing. We take time to look beyond symptoms — assessing medical contributors such as thyroid function, anemia, B12 deficiency, sleep concerns, and hormonal changes — while working closely with primary care and specialty providers to ensure coordinated treatment.

Thank you to the patients who have trusted us with their care and to the primary care providers, OB/GYNs, therapists, and specialists who continue to collaborate in supporting mental wellness across our region.

We are proud to be an independent, locally owned practice and look forward to continuing to serve our community for years to come.
