Freedoms Pulse Bodywork

Freedoms Pulse Bodywork I'm Cait, founder of Freedoms Pulse Bodywork.

Inspired by my horse Gracie and my own healing journey, I use PEMF and myofascial release to help horses find lasting relief, improved movement, and a deeper, more connected partnership with their owners.

Healing takes time and looks different for every horse.

This is our pony Gracie, her healing journey started when we bought her. At first I didn't know anything about body work, I just knew that Gracie had built up walls to keep her from connecting with people. So I started working on getting her to let those down and be willing to have a real relationship with a person. Or in her case, a family.

After her injury in 2018 I started learning about how to heal the horse's body. As I've started focusing more on helping Gracie release tension she's held for years from trauma she went through, its been a beautiful and sometimes exhausting experience. Trauma has so many layers, just when we think we are through all of them another one appears. This is natural! In Gracie's case she has 22 years of living with compounding tension, its going to take a while for her body to relearn how to do things in a body thats not tense.
I remind myself all the time, time is not my enemy, its my friend.

The healing process is long, sometimes intense, beautiful and necessary. Don't be afraid of it.

If you are searching for a way to help your horse release tension and embrace whole body healing message me today!

Even younger horses can benefit and enjoy body work!

Think about.......a young horse's body is working hard to grow. They can experience aches and pains just like humans do when they grow. Getting them a massage can help keep their fascia and muscle free from restrictions, while PEMF supports overall cellular health.

If you have a young horse and would like to support them as they grow, reach out to schedule a session today!

Over 60,000 jaw movements a day, thats how many times a horse can chew a day. Each chew isn’t just a simple up-and-down motion — it follows a complex figure-eight pattern that relies on coordination between the jaw, muscles, fascia, and the TMJ (temporomandibular joint).

Because the TMJ is connected not only to chewing, but also to surrounding structures like the pole, neck, ears, and hyoid apparatus, restriction in this area can affect more than just the jaw. Comfort, range of motion, and even overall relaxation can all be influenced by healthy function in this small but important joint.

If you have noticed that your horse is having trouble chewing, is being hard to bridle or tossing its head a lot when riding. If he seems to brace against contact and doesn’t want to move forward he might be struggling with TMJ tension. Gentle, thoughtful work around the TMJ may help encourage relaxation and support mobility in this area.

As always consult a vet if the problem has been going on for a while. Bodywork is great but regular conversations with your vet about how your horse is doing are important.

Let me introduce myself to those that don't know me, my name is Cait, and my love of animals began at a young age — a passion that has only deepened over time. Freedoms Pulse was born from two pivotal life experiences: a serious injury sustained by our family pony, Gracie, in 2019, and my own personal journey navigating persistent nerve pain from a back injury.
After exhausting my options, I decided to give pulsed electromagnetic field (PEMF) therapy a chance — and the results were life-changing. Within days, my pain was gone. Witnessing the same remarkable results in Gracie only deepened my commitment, and that journey led me to discover myofascial release (MFR). After applying the techniques I was learning directly to Gracie and seeing significant improvements in her overall movement and health, I knew I had found something truly special. I went on to become a Certified MFR Therapist for horses, and through that training and continued education, I am able to provide high-quality, results-driven sessions for my clients.

Today, my mission is to help you and your equine partner find lasting relief from the pain that can leave you feeling frustrated, defeated, and discouraged. By combining the power of PEMF therapy and myofascial release, I am here to help you feel empowered to pursue your goals and to discover the true freedom that comes with a deep, joyful bond with your horse. For me, this is not just work — it is my calling.

Yawning, it's not always cuz the horse is tired.

Yawning can mean a horse is processing and letting go of stress, tension or negative emotions.

Look at all these yawns 😊

It all starts and ends on the ground with the feet - The base of the horse. The feet affect so much more than we think normally. Lots can be done to help your equine friend with the right farrier. Bare foot or shoes, make sure you're working with someone who knows the horses foot.

You cannot escape ground reaction forces - and what I mean by this is you cannot escape the way the horse's hooves interact with the floor.

Your horse's hoof shape directly influences how they interact with the floor and equally the shape of their hooves directly influence their muscular recruitment and therefore their postural development.

As an example of this, here is a diagram of the horse's superficial retraction myofacial chain. This chain supports the retraction - i.e. the drawing back - of the horse's forelimb via connections from the solar surface of the pedal bone, through the back of the forelimb and shoulder, over the ribcage and over the top of the neck.

If there is loss of development, and therefore loss of depth, in the caudal hoof - i.e. the back third of the hoof - you're effectively creating 'fascial drag' which contributes to shortening the topline of the horse's neck and compression of their ribcage.

You can visualise how, if the heel drops, the whole fascial chain is suckered down.

Creating the appearance of a hollow horse with a short neck and perhaps overdevelopment of the underneck muscles.

Now of course you can bias your training for length and elevation through the neck, flexion through the back and expansion of the ribs; but if your horse's heels are low then you will be creating conflict.

Because you're asking that horse to inflate into restricted fascia which is being further implicated by ground reaction forces.

In doing this, you will contribute towards making movement uncomfortable - which lets be honest, poor training practices already do a good job of this(!)

You will perhaps bias towards the risk of injury or reinjury - which is slightly oxymoronic if you've chosen that movement plan as a means to rehabilitate or develop healthy posture.

Your horse will be spending more time practicing poor posture, which is more time teaching their nervous system that this is homeostasis.

And since movement and emotional health are intertwined, you may also be contributing to a negative emotional state.

Fascial chains do of course work both ways, so you can bias your training for healthy movement and it may help with caudal hoof orientation, but you cannot escape the influence of the ground and so, if you're not including your horse's hoof care within that picture, you are only giving your horse half the chance for success.

For this month's webinar, I am delighted to be joined by the wonderful Beccy Smith of Holistic Equine, where she will be discussing what healthy hoof morphology really is, the factors that influence it and what you can do to help your horse.

Beccy is an Integrative Equine Podiatrist who truly considers the whole horse with respect to hoof health. Her keen eye and attention to detail is second to none in the hoofcare sphere and I cannot wait for this webinar!
