Whose doing yoga this Sunday? I’m practicing at home with a focus on letting things go. How about you? What’s your practice about today? Even five minutes of movement and breath can help.

Many of us wear different hats in our daily lives. For me those hats are wife, mother, daughter, counselor, leader, friend and so many more. How I manage those hats often depends on my own practice of yoga. Am I moving my body? Am I slowing down to breathe? Am I settling to let go of all the thoughts running through my head. My daily yoga practice isn’t always an hour of movement, breathe and meditation rolled into an hour.
Often my yoga practice is found in moments.
🧘‍♀️Moving 5 minutes through some poses I enjoy.
🌬️ Taking a minute to do some box breathing while sitting in traffic.
🕯️ Using an unexpected quiet five minutes to meditate on a candle burning in my kitchen.

As I keep these sort of practices in my daily routines, the hats move to the side and I’m able to be with myself. To check in on what I’m feeling physically and emotionally. I’m able to center myself so I can respond to these folks in my life with balance and kindness in that a way that supports them and myself.

What are you doing to come back to you? How can you let go of some of these hats and get back to who you truly are? Comment below!

Friends: I’ve been resting the past few months, but in that rest contemplating what my yoga practice and guidance will look like for 2026. I keep coming back to mental health and grief as being things that I know I am good at working with people around. As I think about yoga and these themes I wonder what people really want or would benefit from?

🦋 Once a month special classes or weekly consistent classes?
🌺 Basic Topics or dealing with the hard stuff of life?
☀️ Indoors or outdoors?

Help me figure out the path for Root & Rise! Your feedback can help me take the next steps to meet folks where they are and hopefully fulfill a need not being met elsewhere.

This cold winter has brought a sense of calm and clarity to my life, and I'm grateful for the chance to slow down and recharge. To nurture my mind, body, and spirit, I've been engaging in restorative yoga, meditation, word searches, plant therapy, reading, and spending time with Oliver the dog. What activities have been helping you unwind and feel refreshed during these winter months?

One of my biggest life lessons as a caretaker is I must keep taking care of myself. When I let my daily self-care habits go then suddenly I am lost. This January I’m focusing on wintering. Finding the spaces to just be and breathe. Yes, I’m working and doing my day to day but I’m also taking some moments to do things for myself. Make myself a healthy meal, read a bit, do yoga for 10 minutes, or find the best essential oil for my mood. These daily habits support me in the chaos of life and then life suddenly doesn’t feel so heavy.

What daily habits are you doing that ground you and bring you back to you?

Take a moment this morning to set your intention for the year. It doesn’t have to be big or bold. Simply finding one word to repeat that you can come back to is enough.

Breathe. Today I will breathe and let go of those things that no longer serve me. This time between. Christmas and the new year is about letting go and resetting. Yoga will be apart of letting go this weekend. Quiet time for just me will be part of letting go. Meditation and prayer will be apart of letting go.

How will you let go of 2025?

The holidays can be hard. Busy days and nights. Difficult interactions with family you might not normally see. Eating too much sugar and drinking too much wine. And the mess and chaos of parties and presents and all of it thrown together.

When it all feels too much…come back to the breath. Let it begin to calm the body and the mind. Then, you can begin to enjoy this season. Then you can feel the breath nourish and support you.

Winter solstice is a time of the light growing again. Tonight is a beautiful time to see new intentions for the year.
