Heart of Wellness is a non profit that gives a lot of great advice. Check them out.
This was their monthly update:
As the leaves change color and days get shorter, it is the perfect time to refresh your health goals. Fall offers a natural moment to reset habits after a busy summer. Getting back on track with a few simple routines this season can help you stay on top of your health and happiness.
Here are five routines to check in on:
1. Getting enough quality sleep. Most adults need 7 to 9 hours of sleep each night. Go to bed and wake up at the same time daily.
Make your bedroom cool, dark, quiet, and put away screens one hour before bedtime.
2. Move your body regularly. Make it a habit to move your body and nothing more practical and easier than walking.
3. Fueling with fruits and vegetables daily can support your overall health. Fall offers delicious options. Apples and pears for quick snacks. Pumpkin and squash in soups and stews.
4. Restoring your mind and body as stress can be harmful for your health. Create calm moments; breathe deeply for five minutes daily, or enjoy a warm evening drink like an herbal tea and spend time outdoors in nature.
5. Connect with people. Feeling connected can help both your mind and body to stay healthy. Call a friend, join a walking club, or book club, volunteer for a local charity, or schedule a game time with family or friends, to name a few ways to connect with others.
Fall is not just a fresh start for those going back to school, it is also a time for anyone to get back to daily routines that help one be their healthiest. Use fall’s schedule to get started, or get back to, the habits that matter most. Best to you to fall back to daily habits that bring you health and happiness!
