Last night at 10:42 p.m., we crossed a powerful threshold: the Summer Solstice, the longest day of the year, when the sun reaches its peak in the sky.
In Chinese Medicine, this is not the start of summer, but its height, the moment of maximum yang, brightness, motion, and outward energy. Summer is ruled by the Fire element, which governs the Heart- our center of connection, joy, clarity, and spirit.
And yet, in a world that often feels overstimulating, heavy, or uncertain, this brightness can feel elusive. It may not be easy to access joy when your heart feels full, scattered, or tired. You are not alone in that.
🌿 This solstice, nature reminds us to pause. To soften. To listen.
The sun is standing still, so perhaps you can, too.
Instead of striving for joy, we invite you to simply be with what is. Let the wind touch your skin. Let your breath slow down. Put your feet on the earth. These small acts of presence can begin to regulate your system and reconnect you to gratitude, without forcing positivity.
🧘♀️ One of the most powerful ways to align with the Fire element is to begin or return to a simple, daily meditation practice.
Even five quiet minutes with your breath, ideally near a window or outside, can calm the Heart, clear the mind, and help you feel rooted and whole again.
💛 Joy doesn’t have to be loud. It can be felt in:
A steady breath
A glimmer of sunlight
A gentle walk in the woods
The steadiness of your own heart
Wishing you a solstice full of light, balance, and the wisdom to turn inward when you need to,
With warmth, wellness, and community,
