Bismary, a dedicated Laundry Associate, brings a true can-do spirit to work every single day. A natural leader within the laundry department, she takes great pride in ensuring residents’ personal belongings are handled with care, accuracy, and respect.

Bismary goes above and beyond—searching high and low to reunite residents with missing items and maintaining exceptional organization and attention to detail. Her positive attitude and warm smile make a difference not only to residents, but to colleagues across campus. An invaluable member of our Environmental Services team, Bismary truly illustrates what it means to serve with responsibility, kindness, and heart.

The Westbrooke Holiday Brunch is always a much-anticipated tradition for our Independent Living residents—and this year was no exception. From festive mimosa and Bloody Mary mocktails to a delicious Southern-style chicken & waffles brunch, the morning was filled with flavor, laughter, and cheer.

Of course, no celebration would be complete without dessert—those stunning Yule Log cakes were almost too beautiful to eat (almost!). Most of all, it was the shared joy and time together that made the celebration truly special. A very merry memory for all who attended. 💙

The Independent Living Residents Association Holiday Party at Manor Country Club in Rockville, MD was a beautiful highlight of the season.

Residents gathered for an elegant luncheon filled with laughter, conversation, and connection, enjoying time with dear friends and neighbors in a lovely setting. The warmth and camaraderie shared that day perfectly captured the spirit of the holidays and the joy of community.

Moments like these stay with us long after the season ends. 💙

🎨 Exploring Art & Culture in DC!

Our Independent Living residents had a fantastic day at the Kreeger Museum in Washington, DC. They learned about the Kreegers’ contributions to the city’s cultural life and explored an incredible collection featuring Picasso, Monet, Degas, Rodin, and more.

The beautiful grounds and mild weather made a stroll through the sculpture garden even more enjoyable. A perfect day of art, history, and connection! 🌿✨

Every month, our independent living residents explore the world of art with Martina Sestakova, a gifted artist and teacher. In November, they learned about Paul Cézanne and then brought their own watercolor landscapes to life in his signature style.

It’s a beautiful way to learn, create, and connect, celebrating both history and personal expression. The results? Stunning works of art—and even more smiles! 🎨✨🖼️

Meet Pecious Gweama, our December Life Illustrator of the Month for our Assisted Living Facility.

Precious has demonstrated a positive attitude in her new role as a full-time Med Tech. Each morning, she begins her day by ensuring residents have their vital signs taken—and soon returns with happy music, leading residents in singing as they wait for breakfast.

Precious greets every resident warmly, checking in to be sure they are doing well before administering medications. She is attentive to residents’ concerns and takes prompt action to address any issues, while maintaining a workspace that is clean, organized, and secure.

She also enjoys training new team members, sharing, “I want to make sure everyone knows how to do the right thing.” Through her care and commitment, Precious exemplifies Individual Discovery and Living Well Together with both residents and colleagues.

The Brooke Grove sleigh has been filled to the brim this season, and our favorite elves—Brenda Erb-Marquis and Freddy Sanchez—have been busy spreading cheer to our wonderful community partners. From smiles to seasonal surprises, every delivery was made with gratitude and holiday spirit.

A special shout-out to Gorman's Garments & Gear for the fantastic sling bags that helped make these deliveries both stylish and practical—thank you for your generous support!

Our community Healthy Living Classes celebrated the close of a healthier year. Instructor, Brenda Norris of Uplift Yoga expressed this "Thank you for a beautiful end to our session today!
