All right… this might get me into trouble, but let’s talk about how we can actually regulate your nervous system.

Because a lot of what we’re told about “relaxing” doesn’t actually regulate the nervous system. It's BS.

If your body feels tense, exhausted, or constantly on edge, that’s not a mindset problem and simply going to therapy is not going to work. That’s your nervous system stuck in fight or flight mode.

True nervous system regulation isn’t about forcing calmness. It’s about helping the body feel safe enough to let go.

Here's the secret...Osteopathy. Osteopathic treatments directly guides your body back into a state of balance so the nervous system can actually do its job. With gentle, hands-on treatments, we can release tension your body may have been holding onto since birth or after any major physical or emotional traumas. To truly calm your nervous system, we need to look beyond the nervous system to release the deep-rooted tension that your body is holding onto.

When that tension from trauma is released, the rest of your body, including the the nervous system, can finally start to do its job - self-soothe, self-regulate, and self-heal.

✨For adults, that means less tension overall, less anxiety, and better sleep.
✨For new moms, it can feel like finally taking a full breath.
✨For babies, it often looks like more smiles, better sleep, & easier time settling.

Regulation comes before healing. And healing starts when the body feels safe and trauma we've been holding onto has fully released.

Colic is often described as unexplained crying, but in many cases, there is a reason behind it.

For some babies, colic can be linked to tension in the body, an overwhelmed nervous system, or difficulty regulating after birth. A long or stressful delivery, pressure on the head or neck, or getting “stuck” in the birth canal for an extended period of time can place strain on the baby’s nervous system and affect how they settle afterward.

Other contributing factors may include taking in excess air during feeds, gas and digestive discomfort, oral restrictions, or difficulty coordinating sucking, swallowing, and breathing. When the nervous system is stressed, babies can struggle to regulate, which may show up as prolonged crying, feeding challenges, or ongoing digestive issues.

Understanding what may be contributing to colic is an important first step toward helping babies feel more comfortable and supported.

Is your baby displaying any of these symptoms? Let's see how I can help.

It’s always interesting when people assume I’m NOT a medically trained physician. But here’s the reality:

✨ 4 years of medical school
✨ 4 years of residency
✨ Double Board Certified in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R) and Lifestyle Medicine
✨ Countless nights on call
✨ Frontline worker during pandemic

And yes, I’m still asked if I’m “really” a doctor.

I’m Dr. Iris Tian, a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine trained at Mount Sinai in New York City. After working through the pandemic, I opened Luminé Wellness to practice medicine the way it was meant to be practiced.

Because your care should come from both deep clinical training and genuine heart. 💛

Leaking when you sneeze.
Back pain that never fully went away.
Pelvic heaviness by the end of the day.
Feeling like you cannot completely empty your bladder.
Pressure. Instability. Just feeling… off.

If you gave birth months ago and this sounds familiar, you are not alone.

But common does not mean normal.

Postpartum is a profound physiologic transition. Hormones shift. Connective tissue softens and rebuilds. Your nervous system recalibrates. Your pelvic floor adapts to pregnancy, delivery, and recovery.

Sometimes it doesn’t need more time.
It needs support.

Your pelvic floor is not an isolated muscle. It is part of a dynamic system of 14 muscles that works with your diaphragm, abdominals, spine, and nervous system. When one piece is under strain, the entire system compensates.

These symptoms are not something you are meant to push through. They are signals.

And signals deserve attention.

You deserve to feel strong.
You deserve to move without fear.
You deserve care that looks at the whole system, not just the symptom.

If you are ready for thoughtful, individualized pelvic health support, book a consultation at Luminé Wellness.

Gentle massage can support a baby’s nervous system, body awareness, and ability to regulate.

Beginning at the feet offers grounding input and helps the body orient and feel supported. Slowly moving up the legs and into the hands with soft, circular touch allows the nervous system to receive information in a calm, organized way.

Light, gentle contact over the clavicles can support upper body awareness and breathing. Pressure should always remain minimal.

As a physician, I emphasize that baby massage is not about technique or force. It’s about slowing down, listening to the body, and creating a sense of safety through touch and connection.

Rolling isn’t about pushing your baby into position.
It’s about supporting their body with the right information and giving it time to respond.

When you gently guide the leg and hips first, you invite your baby to engage their core, organize their movement, and complete the roll on their own. This supports strength, confidence, and body awareness without forcing the process.

Slow, intentional support allows natural motor development to unfold in a way that feels safe and integrated for the nervous system.

SAVE this for tummy time practice and share it with a parent supporting their baby’s rolling journey.

You’ve tried it all.
Physical therapy. Chiropractic care. Massage. Even cortisone shots.
And the pain is still there.

That’s because many treatments focus on the symptom, not the whole system.

At Luminé Wellness, we look at how your muscles, ligaments, joints, fascia, and nervous system work together. When the body is treated as one connected unit, we can uncover the root of the pain instead of chasing it.

If you’ve been living with discomfort for years, you don’t have to keep pushing through it.

Relief doesn’t have to wait.

Colic is often labeled as excessive crying, but the signs can show up in several ways.

Babies with colic may cry for long stretches, struggle to settle, or become uncomfortable when lying on their back. You might notice clenched fists, stiff or tense movements, difficulty sleeping, or a baby who seems unable to relax even when fed and changed.

Learning to recognize these patterns can help parents understand when a baby may need extra support rather than being told it is something they will simply outgrow.
