Mandatory nap time. If you want the laziest way to get healthier, do it while you sleep.

Better sleep improves blood sugar regulation and inflammation.

Most people think their sleep is fine. Measure it. Don’t guess.

Why aren’t tumor markers being checked before symptoms appear?

Markers like CEA and CA19-9 are often run after something is found. Circulating tumor DNA and HER2 status are not always reviewed early.

Specialists check their lane.

Someone still has to look at the whole landscape.

Not to create fear. To create clarity.

You cannot personalize care without data.

Symptoms are late.

By the time colon cancer causes noticeable symptoms, it has often been developing quietly for years.

That is why screening matters. Colonoscopies can detect and remove precancerous polyps before they become cancer.

Earlier data leads to earlier decisions.

If colon cancer is showing up earlier, why aren’t we testing earlier?

Colorectal cancer is one of the few cancers we can actually screen for in a meaningful way. Colonoscopy matters. Early data matters too.

Here’s what we know:

Rates of colorectal cancer in adults under 50 have been rising about 2.9 percent per year in recent years, even while rates decline in older adults (American Cancer Society).

About 10–13 percent of new colorectal cancer cases now occur in people under 50 (Colorectal Cancer Alliance).

If the age of diagnosis is shifting younger, our screening conversations should shift with it.

Colonoscopy can detect and remove precancerous polyps before they become cancer. That is powerful.

Earlier data creates earlier decisions.

Talk with your provider about when screening makes sense for you.

I’m seeing more colon cancer under 40 than ever before.

That’s not a headline. That’s what’s walking into my clinic.

This is one of the few cancers we can screen for. If you’re over 35, it’s worth getting a baseline. Don’t wait for symptoms.

Cancer prevention isn’t about doing everything perfectly. It’s about paying attention early, asking better questions, and having support when things feel unclear.

At Sierra Botanica & Collaborative Medicine, care is collaborative, paced, and individualized over time.

You don’t have to do this alone.

A lot of cancer prevention work happens before anything shows up on a scan.

Imaging and biopsies matter. They tell us what’s happening now. But long before that, the body is already responding to its environment and daily inputs.

This is why I like to dig a little deeper. I pay attention to things like oxidative stress, inflammation, immune balance, nutrition, hormones, and lifestyle factors that quietly shape risk over time.

These layers don’t usually create symptoms right away. But they influence how resilient the body is and how well it can adapt and repair.

Prevention isn’t about ignoring conventional medicine. It’s about looking underneath the surface early, while there’s still room to intervene thoughtfully.

Some of the most important support for cancer prevention is foundational, not advanced.

Vitamin D, zinc, and omegas help shape immune balance and inflammation over time.

These nutrients work best when levels are steady and appropriate for the individual.

Prevention is personal, and foundations still matter.

Not all cancer prevention comes from a bottle.

Fresh ginger and turmeric can be part of everyday meals: soups, vegetables, fish, used regularly over time.

This kind of support is gentle and cumulative. Sometimes prevention looks like what’s already in your kitchen.

Sleep matters for cancer prevention. But sleeping and sleeping well are not the same thing.

A lot of people assume they sleep fine. In practice, that’s not always true. Quality, consistency, and recovery matter, not just the number of hours in bed.

Sleep is one of the foundations I pay close attention to, alongside movement, nutrition, vitamin D, and other basics. When sleep is off, everything else has to work harder.

Prevention isn’t about chasing advanced protocols. It’s about making sure the fundamentals are actually doing what we think they’re doing.

That’s where honest assessment and individualized care can make a difference.

Cancer prevention shows up in the most ordinary places. It has to do with how well the body clears and circulates every single day. Regular bowel movements. Sweating. Moving the body. Supporting circulation and elimination so waste does not linger. These are simple things, but they matter. They influence inflammation, immune balance, and how resilient the body can be over time. This kind of prevention is quiet and unglamorous. It is also foundational.

Cancer prevention isn’t about doing more. It’s about doing the basics well.

Diet. Sleep. Movement. Daily habits that support how the body clears, repairs, and recovers.

These basics are not exciting, but they are powerful. They shape inflammation, immune function, hormone balance, and long-term resilience.

Before we talk about anything complicated, we always come back to the foundations. That’s where prevention actually lives.
