Founded in 1965, Prevent Blindness Georgia (PBGA) is the state affiliate of Prevent Blindness, the leading voluntary eye health organization dedicated to the prevention of blindness and the preservation of sight. With a mission of preventing blindness and preserving sight, Prevent Blindness Georgia annually provides vision screenings for nearly 40,000 prekindergarten children as well as vision scr

eening training for school and public health nurses to make sure our state's children are "vision ready" to learn. Prevent Blindness Georgia also provides free eye exams, retinal scans, and prescription glasses to uninsured Georgians through a network of free health clinics and community agencies that serve the homeless, victims of domestic violence, Veterans, migrant farm workers, and others who would otherwise be without eyecare.

Here are a few simple ways to help soothe dry eye symptoms:
✔️ Use artificial tears or lubricating eye drops
✔️ Follow the 20-20-20 rule to rest your eyes during screen time
✔️ Stay hydrated - your eyes need water, too
✔️ Use a humidifier to add moisture to dry indoor air
✔️ Wear sunglasses outdoors to protect from the sun, wind, and dust

Here’s who’s most at risk:
🔹 Women, especially after menopause

🔹 Contact lens wearers

It’s been a month since our team came together for an incredible PEEP (Pediatric Eye Care Ensuring Georgia's Children Reach Their Full Potential) event in Lumpkin County - and the impact is still being felt.

✨ We completed 38 free eye exams for local children, and several have since been referred for the additional care they need. Our Referral Coordinator continues to work closely with families to ensure no child falls through the cracks.

From eye exams to pizza, a visit from the Chick-fil-A Cow, and meals shared with shelters and firefighters - it was a day full of vision, community, and heart. 🐄🍕

We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who made this event a reality, especially the Catholic Foundation of North Georgia, whose generous support brought it to life. Because of your commitment, countless more children are seeing the world clearly and have a brighter path forward.
