Spirit of Courage Coaching

Spirit of Courage Coaching Liisa Bradshaw is a Certified Professional Life Coach and Functional Nutritional Therapy Practitioner

I’m a speaker, coach, nutritional therapist, and trauma survivor who knows what it’s like to meet God in the middle of the mess. I help women find hope and joy as they learn to invite Jesus into the storm of life, because I’ve lived through them too. Jesus didn’t rescue me from the fire; He walked through it with me. It’s from that place that I speak, coach, and walk alongside others. I’m also a wife, a mom, and a proud Memaw, all living reminders of God’s grace in my story and why I do this work.

When Life Doesn’t Look The Way You Hoped?

Disappointment can settle into our lives quietly. It shows up when marriage doesn’t look like we hoped, when our kids seem to fight more than they connect, when work feels empty, or when motherhood feels exhausting and unseen. Sometimes the disappointment is loud, and sometimes it’s just a steady ache that leaves us wondering where God is in all of it. In James 1:2-4, we are reminded that trials test and shape us, producing endurance and maturity over time, even when the process feels uncomfortable and slow. “Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.”

God does not stand outside our disappointment. He meets us in it. We can see this in Isaiah 43:2-3, “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through the fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you.” God is with us, steady and present, not absent or distant. Disappointment often marks a rupture, a place where expectations break, relationships strain, or hope feels out of reach. But God is a God of repair and restoration. He works gently to restore our trust in Him, to heal what has been strained with others, and to realign us with the purpose He has for us. Nothing is wasted in His hands, not even the seasons we wish looked different. “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you.” Jeremiah 29:11-12

Some women are stepping into this new year already exhausted. You wake up tired, push through the day, and fall into bed wondering how you are supposed to do this all again tomorrow. You love your family, but you are running on empty, trying to be a good mom, a present wife, and keep up with your busy life. Your marriage feels strained, intimacy feels hard when you have nothing left to give, and the weight of holding everything together feels heavier than ever. Somewhere along the way, you stopped recognizing yourself, and even imagining another year like this feels overwhelming.

If this sounds familiar, it does not mean something is wrong with you. It means you have been carrying more than one person was ever meant to carry alone. God has not lost sight of you, even if you feel unseen right now. There is a way forward that does not require pushing harder or pouring from an empty place. Clarity, healing, and strength can begin right where you are, one steady step at a time, and you do not have to walk this uphill season by yourself.

If this resonates, you’re not alone here.

I’m honored to be speaking at the Xposed Conference on February 7th and wanted to personally invite you.
This conference creates space for honest, Christ-centered conversations around healing from trauma, sexual integrity, discipleship, and walking in freedom after brokenness.
I’ll be leading a breakout session called “Finding Joy in the Heart of Life’s Storm,” where we’ll explore what it looks like to move forward after trauma and learn how to be steady, grounded, and open to the joy God has for us.
If you’ve struggled with sexual integrity, experienced trauma and don’t know how to move forward, or if you’re a pastor, counselor, or church leader walking with others through these places, this conference offers wisdom, compassion, and practical tools for both personal healing and ministry.
I’d love to see you there.

“But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.” Matthew 6:6

This verse was part of my devotional this morning and it made me think of how a child makes a cardboard box fort and wants you to come and sit in it with them. They want to spend time in a quiet place, with no distractions, so they can have your full attention. This is what your heavenly Father wants to do with you. He wants to spend time with ALL of you. Where there are no distractions. He wants to listen to you and hear your heart. He wants you to know Him and feel safe with Him so you can come to Him with anything and everything that is going on in your life. He wants you to know His voice so you can hear Him call your name. He wants you to know and experience the deep, deep love He has for you. He wants to fill you with that love so you can then pour that love out on those around you.
Are there things you are filling your life with that are keeping you from inviting your Heavenly Father into those secret places? Do you have fears that may be distorting your image of who God truly is? Does seeing God as a father fill you with fear instead of joy?
For some, seeing God as a loving Father is a hard concept to grasp. Not all of us grew up in homes where we experienced love. Maybe your image of a father is someone who is angry and only hurt you emotionally, mentally, and physically. So, how do you trust God who calls himself your father when you have only known hurt from your earthly father?
You start by sharing your fears and hurts with Him. He already knows all the hurt you have experienced and the walls you have built up to protect yourself. Now, He wants you to see the walls that are there and admit that the hurt feels too big and scary to allow Him into that secret place. He wants you to say out loud that you would rather sit in the fort by yourself than feel the hurt and pain that you experienced growing up. Speaking the truth then allows God to speak into and heal those wounded places. Then He can ever so gently and lovingly show you who he truly is. Then He can help you take those walls down one brick at a time, and over time, as you see you can trust Him, you will look forward to inviting your heavenly Father into your secret places. This is the reward He has waiting for you.

If you have prodigal kids, I want to share this powerful verse that God gave to me.
"And I will lead the blind in a way that they do not know, in paths that they have not known I will guide them. I will turn the darkness before them into light, the rough places into level ground. These are the things I do, and I do not forsake them."
Is. 42:16

Whether you have been praying for your child or another loved one for a few months or years, praying scripture over them is very powerful. I encourage you to rewrite this verse and in place of "them" put your loved one's name. Then pray this over them daily. Just like this verse says, "These are the things God does and He does not forsake them."

There is so much hope in this verse!! I hope in encourages you too!
