Spirit of Courage Coaching

Spirit of Courage Coaching Liisa Bradshaw is a Certified Professional Life Coach and Functional Nutritional Therapy Practitioner

I’m a speaker, coach, nutritional therapist, and trauma survivor who knows what it’s like to meet God in the middle of the mess. I help women find hope and joy as they learn to invite Jesus into the storm of life, because I’ve lived through them too. Jesus didn’t rescue me from the fire; He walked through it with me. It’s from that place that I speak, coach, and walk alongside others. I’m also a wife, a mom, and a proud Memaw, all living reminders of God’s grace in my story and why I do this work.

“But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.” Matthew 6:6

This verse was part of my devotional this morning and it made me think of how a child makes a cardboard box fort and wants you to come and sit in it with them. They want to spend time in a quiet place, with no distractions, so they can have your full attention. This is what your heavenly Father wants to do with you. He wants to spend time with ALL of you. Where there are no distractions. He wants to listen to you and hear your heart. He wants you to know Him and feel safe with Him so you can come to Him with anything and everything that is going on in your life. He wants you to know His voice so you can hear Him call your name. He wants you to know and experience the deep, deep love He has for you. He wants to fill you with that love so you can then pour that love out on those around you.
Are there things you are filling your life with that are keeping you from inviting your Heavenly Father into those secret places? Do you have fears that may be distorting your image of who God truly is? Does seeing God as a father fill you with fear instead of joy?
For some, seeing God as a loving Father is a hard concept to grasp. Not all of us grew up in homes where we experienced love. Maybe your image of a father is someone who is angry and only hurt you emotionally, mentally, and physically. So, how do you trust God who calls himself your father when you have only known hurt from your earthly father?
You start by sharing your fears and hurts with Him. He already knows all the hurt you have experienced and the walls you have built up to protect yourself. Now, He wants you to see the walls that are there and admit that the hurt feels too big and scary to allow Him into that secret place. He wants you to say out loud that you would rather sit in the fort by yourself than feel the hurt and pain that you experienced growing up. Speaking the truth then allows God to speak into and heal those wounded places. Then He can ever so gently and lovingly show you who he truly is. Then He can help you take those walls down one brick at a time, and over time, as you see you can trust Him, you will look forward to inviting your heavenly Father into your secret places. This is the reward He has waiting for you.

If you have prodigal kids, I want to share this powerful verse that God gave to me.
"And I will lead the blind in a way that they do not know, in paths that they have not known I will guide them. I will turn the darkness before them into light, the rough places into level ground. These are the things I do, and I do not forsake them."
Is. 42:16

Whether you have been praying for your child or another loved one for a few months or years, praying scripture over them is very powerful. I encourage you to rewrite this verse and in place of "them" put your loved one's name. Then pray this over them daily. Just like this verse says, "These are the things God does and He does not forsake them."

There is so much hope in this verse!! I hope in encourages you too!

As I have entered into this journey of becoming a life coach, the one thing I have struggled with is finding the right balance of being a doer and knowing when to step back and wait on the Lord. Over the last few months I have been bombarded with spiritual warfare. My husband and I were in a car accident that has added the need for healing and dr appointments to an already busy schedule, we have had sickness, loss of work, and hurts in relationships that have needed to be worked out and healed. Every time God gives me an opportunity to move forward in my coaching career, something happens and blocks it or makes it a fight to get it accomplished. I know that the enemy can not touch us without the permission of our Heavenly Father and I also know that one of my niches will always have great spiritual warefare connected to it. I can see God helping me to build endurance and learn to lean on Him. This morning as I was having my quiet time Exodus 14:14 spoke so loudly to me ”The Lord will fight for you, and you have only to be silent.”“
‭All I need to do is pray and surrender to the Lord and He will take care of the rest. For all you doers out there, know that the Lord is fighting for you. Are you willing to surrender “it” to Him?

Are you limiting your relationship with God by what can be seen with your physical eyes or are you allowing Him to open the eyes of your heart to see Him as He truly is?

"God will never withhold Himself from us when we purely desire more of Him." First15.org

"Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen." Hebrews 11:1

Today is a day of Love, but for some, love is downright scary. When love only meant pain, we often put walls around our heart for protection. These walls keep us from relationships with others and with God. It keeps us from receiving the one thing that we all desire, which is to be loved.

What walls have you put up around your heart?

I challenge you, on this day of love, to take a step of courage, and allow God into your pain. He wants to help you take down the walls that are keeping you from experiencing the fullness of His love and all He has for you. "The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit." Psalm 34:18

Have confidence in the fact that the one true God, who created you and fully knows you, desires to heal you and comfort you.
"My heart is confident in you, O God; my heart is confident." Psalm 57:7

Feel free to contact me at Spirit of Courage Coaching if you need someone to walk with you as you take down your walls.
