π¨π¨ Do not do it!!π¨π¨
News flash: Your lady area knows how to keep itself clean. Crazy, right? Not what you were taught? π«£ Well, did you know that studies have shown women who use feminine hygiene products have a 3.5x higher chance of having a bacterial infection and 2.5x higher chance of developing a urinary tract infection. π₯΄
Your skin down there is very delicate and contains numerous glands that both protect and clean the skin. All you need to do is rinse with lukewarm water. π€·ββοΈ
Soaps, shower gels, powders, douches, perfumes, etc. will likely make whatever symptoms you are having worse. However, if you feel like you want to put more than water down there, I would highly suggest talking to your provider based on your individual needs. π
In the meantime, here are some of my favorite tips to keep in mind, in addition to not using those fancy products, for a healthier you:
- Only use soft, unscented, plain toilet paper
- Limit extremely cold or extremely hot water down there
- Only use 100% cotton menstrual products
- Do not wear pantyliners daily
- Ensure your underwear are made of cotton
- Make sure any lubricant you use is water-based
- Don't hang out in wet or sweaty clothing
- Use detergents for sensitive skin
- Drink lots of water and ensure you are getting enough fiber
- Strive to keep a happy bladder (scroll back to my old posts!)
