Anwar Syed, a Rotarian for four years is a co-founder and Executive Director of United Medical andSocial Services (UMSS), is making a significant impact on the local community by providing essential healthcare to uninsured and low-income individuals.

Under Anwar’s leadership, UMSS offers free primary and mental health care, chronic disease management, and referrals for specialized treatments.The clinic has built partnerships to provide patients with reduced-cost medications and lab services, playing a crucial role in the health and well-being of the underserved. As a member of both national andFlorida associations for free clinics, UMSS continues to be a vital resource for the community in centralFlorida. This is the second free clinic Anwar has established, marking over two decades of dedicated service.

His mission is clear: to give back to the community and inspire compassion in volunteers. His passion for healthcare equity is further reflected in his involvement with the Racial Equity and Inclusion (REEI)Sanford committee, where he advocates for healthcare access and contributes to efforts promoting social equity and justice.
