In recent months we have added a psychologist to our staff at MMC! We are now offering psychological testing with no long waitlist! This is huge for our community!! Here is a long list of benefits to testing:
🧠 Understanding Mental Health Concerns
Clarifies symptoms – Testing can help distinguish between conditions that may look similar (e.g., ADHD vs. anxiety, depression vs. trauma).
Reveals underlying issues – It uncovers cognitive, emotional, or behavioral patterns that aren’t always clear in therapy alone.
Identifies strengths as well as challenges – It highlights areas where a person is doing well, not just where they are struggling.
🎯 Guides Treatment Planning
Provides direction – Results give therapists a roadmap for what type of therapy or interventions may work best.
Informs medication decisions – Psychiatrists often rely on test results to adjust or start medications.
Sets a baseline – Testing can be repeated later to track progress over time.
🏫 Supports School and Work Needs
Academic accommodations – Testing can document learning disabilities or attention difficulties, helping students qualify for IEPs or 504 plans.
Workplace adjustments – Adults may use results to request accommodations at work under disability laws.
⚖️ Legal, Medical, and Diagnostic Clarity
Objective data – Psychological tests provide measurable evidence, which can be important in court cases, disability claims, or medical evaluations.
Diagnostic accuracy – Helps ensure that clients receive the correct diagnosis, reducing the risk of ineffective or inappropriate treatment.
🌱 Personal Growth and Self-Understanding
Increases self-awareness – Clients learn more about their personality, coping style, and how they process the world.
🌟 Validates experiences – Many people feel relief when testing explains why they’ve struggled and gives language to their challenges.
Empowers decision-making – Results can guide choices about school, career, or relationships by providing deeper insight into personal strengths.
