My Florida plant folk know that finding Plantain leaves this broad isn't the norm. Say hello to this beautiful ally. We call it the "Green Bandage". And I could literally wrap an ouchy with one of these leaves. Great for drawing bacteria and debris out of wounds, like splinters or glass. One of my favorite plant healers! I attribute its' size to the fact that the land I found it on is actually an ancient shell midden!! More info to come! **ds

As we frolicked through the Mountain's paths, and I discovered that our friend's land is home to this beautiful plant. This is our Ally Black Cohosh.

Actaea racemosa or Cimicifuga racemosa.

Black cohosh root was an official drug (under the name “black snakeroot”) in the United States Pharmacopoeia from 1820 to 1926. Black Cohosh is one of the main herbs recommended for menopause, PMS and secondary amenorrhoea. Native Americans used this herb for the treatment of a variety of disorders, including various conditions unique to women such as amenorrhea and menopause, rheumatism, kidney disorders, malaise, and pain during me**es and childbirth. Quite a few studies proving it effects on the op**te receptors in the body, support it's efficacy. With the help of an Herbalists and support of your Dr., Please consider the use of this herb in conjunction with other therapies to support you on your path to balance and wellness!

With wild, childlike abandon, I run to these everytime I see them. Except now I am excited knowing that these little seeds will fly away and find somewhere to plant and grow into one of my favorite allies. Say hello to Taraxicum officinale commonly known as Dandelion. This plant is so persistent that it will even grow through the cracks of pavement. Bastardized as an inconvenient w**d, it's sad that people haven't been led to appreciate its goodness. High in Vitamin A, C, E, & K, it's also a good source of Iron and Calcium. The bitter leaves are found in salads. As an herbalist, I have commonly used it for liver support and to improve digestion. So the next time you see this "w**d" running rampant in your yard, consider that this plant may be you ally and is offering up it's good medicine to you!
