A few denture “do’s” and “dont’s” when cleaning:

*Use a soft bristle toothbrush, while under running water to remove food particles.
*If you’re going to brush your denture with cleaner use “denture cream”.
*If using a tablet cleaner soak for 20 mins then transfer to plain water for overnight.

*Never use hot water for rinsing – it can warp your dentures.
*Do not use ordinary toothpaste, it contains an abrasive that will scratch your dentures.

*****be very careful not to drop your dentures in the sink, many fractures happen this way

“My denture is loose” This is a complaint that brings a lot of new patients in to see us. I’d like to scratch the surface of this problem. There are many reasons this problem can present itself: a denture made within 6 months of extractions, weight loss, additional bone loss over time, dry mouth (usually caused by medications), etc…. There are different resolutions for each of these scenarios. You are not alone if you are experiencing this problem. *Denture Tips*
Wearing dentures for the first time can be a significant adjustment. adapting to this new dental appliance takes time and patience.
Patience is Key!!!
Initially, you may experience difficulty speaking, and/or increased saliva production. These issues are normal and tend to improve as your mouth adjusts to the dentures. Practice speaking (or singing!) and within no time your speech will adjust. In the beginning, stick to soft foods and cut them into smaller pieces to make chewing easier. Avoid sticky or hard foods that can dislodge your dentures or cause discomfort. As you become more accustomed to wearing dentures, gradually reintroduce a variety of foods into your diet, chewing carefully and evenly on both sides of your mouth.
